Virtual Users and permission denied on POP3 Authentication - cur directory
Hi,
I've been working on configuring a new Postfix+Dovecot+Cyrus-SASL
+Postgres server to perform multi-domain virtual hosting with non-unix
accounts. I believe I have everything working correctly and have
tested both the SASL portion and POP authentication through telnet and
all works as expected, with one exception.
When I authenticate using POP3:
# telnet mail.host 110

Help - I keep getting LSUB permission denied
Hi,
I am using dovecot: 1.0.rc15
I was upgrading Debian and installed new versions of lots of things.
My mail came fine and I though there was not problem until a user called
and said it was not working through webmail. I tried, it it worked fine
and I realized the problem was with dovecot. I have created new users,
tried different UIDs. Removed any protections but when I telnet to the

Troubles with Dovecot 2.3.3 - mkdir permission denied due to +w perm: /var, dir owned by 0:0 mode=0755)
Hi,
I am quite new to Dovecot and I followed a tutorial on Linode to set up
Dovecot, Postfix and MySql on the following site:-
https://www.linode.com/docs/email/postfix/email-with-postfix-dovecot-and-mysql/
Everything seems to work fine(telnet etc) except dovecot does not create
mailboxes.
Highly appreciate if someone could check the error messages and the dovecot

Hello,

I noticed Permission denied errors in the logs for all domains listed

Anyone know why one would get the permission denied error?
It seems to be failing on the "Doing passwd authentication" phase
after the "Received encrypted confirmation" phase. I have included
the output of ssh -v.
Thanks,

We are using rsync to push DNS records from one machine (running rsync

running rsync 2.5.6 as a daemon on RedHat 7.3). To test this process we
are using a script that pushes one file from the Debian box to the
collocation server. It appears that a file transfers, but upon checking there is

Permission denied error log messages
Hi Timo,
ok, I have a large 2.07 NFS setup, and I have been monitoring error
messages to make sure I catch things, and I've come across a lot of
messages that come in pairs and look like this :

Error: Permission denied, please try again.
Greetings: I hope it is okay to post this here. I have RedHat 6.1 on
Intel. I believe I followed the instructions correctly.
Everything seemed to compile without errors but when I try to log in I get
the above error - any advice? I've poked through the FAQ and man pages with
no luck.
Thanks for any and all replies,
Mike

getting rid of "permission denied" partial transfer errors
Hi,
I am currently setting up a backup script for the /home directory of a
server. I send all the files on a remote machine through LAN connection
using rsync to optimize bandwidth usage.
The script is run as root on the server by a cron job but rsync connects
to the remote machine as a normal user via an ssh key certificate. This
leads to many "permission denied" errors, as the

Mount Error 13 = Permission Denied Problem
Hail to the great Samba gurus,
I have a frustrating problem with a daily bash script that uses Samba on CentOS 5.10 to mount a share drive from a Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard. It had been working fine for months but mid-November the script started intermittently failing at:
mount -t cifs -o user=AsteriskReports,pass=password,domain=CARETOUCH //ctserve2/ct/Marketing/Daily\ Call\

NT 4.0 SP4 -> SP5: Permission denied?
Hi,
I've upgraded an NT 4.0 Client from SP4 to SP5. Now I'm unable
to mount a shared medium from the samba server, because the
user authentication failed. After downgrading all things are well.
Is this a problem of NT password encryption? I read NT 4.0 SP4
uses encrypted passwords already?!
The samba server is running SuSE 6.1 with Samba 2.0.3.
Thanks,
Lars

I am using the trees[1] plugin to encrypt the mail on my disk. Because I
don't want it to store any metadata in plaintext, I've also set

However, whenever I get new mail I get errors like the following showing up in the journal:

Usage of a telnet client instead of ssh or rsh
Hi all,
i am building an authentification system based upon MIT kerberos.
I set up a realm in which I can use the ftp and telnet server/clients
infrastructure for the purpose of authentification. To backup my server
i would like to use rsync, but instead of a ssh/rsh/stunnel with an
encrypted kerberized telnet.
My problem is, that i could connect manually via telnet.krb5, but if
