nt can't map network drive
hi all, I have been troubled by this problem for a long time and really hope that someone may help by giving suggestions. I have setup Samba 2.0.5 on a "Digital" Tru64 as a file server. When I want to map a network drive with win95 or 98 everything is alright. If I use nt 4 (SP5) then the computer does not find the networkpath. I have also setup Samba 2.0.4b on my machine. The

Cannot get Centrino N 6200 wireless NIC to work Cento 6.4
I installed Centos 6.4 on my laptop and neither of the network interfaces will work. When I boot up to windows both the wired and the wireless network interfaces work. I have attached dmesg output for the wireless card. Reading through the messages it appears that OS cannot talk to the NIC. -- Selwyn Schultz selwynsr at gmail.com c. 616-836-8896 -------------- next part --------------

Cannot Map drive from XP to Samba shared folder
Dear Sirs, I have a Samba server with LDAP (in Fedora Core 4) and numbers of XP client in a domain. After client login to domain, it runs a logon script to map drive. Each client has own home directory in samba server. Sometimes some of clients cannot map the drive to shared folder in samba server after they login (At the same time, Some clients can map the drive successfully) My Samba version:

MEMDISK without floppy drive is fixed in 2.07
I apologize for the long delay in testing this. I can only reproduce the problem on fancy new laptops, and those do not stay in my hands for very long. As you may recall, certain floppyless laptops have a BIOS bug which prevented them from working with MEMDISK. Around a month ago, Robert Wruck contributed workaround patches, and hpa included a modified version of them in 2.07-pre1. He asked

"Save As" fails to Samba drive, works on Win95, NT, Novell ...
Hi -- I originally posted the following message about 2 weeks ago -- I don't mean to annoy but really need to solve this problem - if anyone can shed any light on the issue I'd greatly appreciate it. Since the original post, we've run the application with its data on network drives shared from 95, NT, and Novell, and all work fine, as does saving locally. It only fails on a

Win2003 ADS, wbinfo -u and -g almost works
I've been chasing this problem for several days. I have taken the 3.0.26a Fedora 7 SRPM from the Samba FTP site and rebuilt it on RedHat EL5 and installed it. It runs, but it has exactly the same problem as the original 3.0.23c version. I can join the domain and 'wbinfo -t' returns OK. However, 'wbinfo -g' returns only two groups then gives a failure message and

rsync for nt - new drive letter
Hello! I have been running rsync on some machines and rsync for NT on others. Recently, I discovered that on one of the NT machines we are getting this error: @ERROR: chdir failed rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (33 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165) The module pathway has been moved to a new drive letter on the NT box due to a

SV: using samba to backup NT to unix tape drive ?
Hi! My suggestion: Use Amanda (www.amanda.org, cd /usr/ports/misc/amanda24 && make install with FreeBSD). It has support for smbtar. Haven't tried it myself, but I hear it's working fine. (I think I have seen a patch for gnu tar, that fixes the path length limit. I'm sure, though...) /Palle -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Fr?n: Tony Jones <tony@rtd.com> Till:

NT Domain authentication's
Recently our Unix Administrator installed Samba v.2.07. It was configured to attach to our NT domain. When this occurred we started to experience problems with user authentication's to the domain and it appeared that the "Samba" server had become the master browser. Have you seen this problem occur at other sites? If so, what is the work around? We have been using Samba v2.06

important caveat with Rsync on NT and daylight savings time
That's actually a very good suggestion. First I figured that in this way files changed within the hour after creation would be ignored, but they probably represent a very small minority anyway. On the other hand, this does not really rectify the situation, but will allow us to postpone the real sync again until, let's say a holiday, where we have plenty of time to sync. Rgds, Bart

username map with NT groups
I need to map all of my NT id's to unix usernames. It looks like you can use NIS groups in the username map file. Why can't you put an NT group in there? Shouldn't I be able to map an entire NT group to a single unix id? Danny Travis danny.travis@exxonmobil.com
