Help with loess "Standard Error of the Residuals"
Dear All I'm having trouble working out what exactly loess means by its "Standard Error of the Residuals" denoted s and in particular when the weights argument is invoked. For example, if the weights are weights are all =1, then s^2 is nearly sum sq res/ (n -1 - 'equiv num paras') If the weights are all k then s is proportional to k If the weights are unequal, I

IP address restrictions and multiple interfaces
Using Samba (2nd edition) discusses using the "interfaces" network configuration option, along with "hosts allow", "hosts deny", etc, to provide support of multiple interfaces. The examples cited only discuss the scenario in which the interfaces are on different subnets. What about the case in which the interfaces of a multi-homed systems are on the same subnet?

nt pipe support and nt smb support in smb.conf
Regards, This is kind of urgent (isn't everything nowadays :-). Historically, our samba servers need to run with the two 'untouchables' "nt pipe support" and "nt smb support" both set to "no" (non default) based on a recommendation by one of our software vendors. These settings in smb.conf now prevents WIN2K SP2 clients from creating directories on the

samba-tool crashes if include = /patch/to/%U.conf in smb.conf
Hi, Samba4 (4.1.9) on Ubuntu 12.04 here (seen same behavior on 4.1.6 on Ubuntu 14.04). I've encountered an annoying bug with samba-tool, some exceptions aren't caught causing the tool to crash if it finds something it doesn't like in the smb.conf. I have a specific line in my conf : "include = /etc/samba/%U.smb.conf ", it's useful for applying specific samba

cifs.ko kernel module versus smb.conf - which SMB protocol version?
Hello guys, could someone help me better understand the mechanism of negotiating of the SMB protocol? I watch closely samba list and recently there was a talk about the 'smb.conf' parameters like eg. "max protocol =" etc. with regards to Windows 10 (and other windows clients of diff versions). I read Jeff_Layton-Linux-CIFS-Client.pdf and

mystified by interaction between krb5.conf, smb.conf, and winbindd
I am stumped here. I am a novice at using samba to do MS Active Directory stuff, but I have read everything I could find in the HOWTO collection and on the linux.samba cache of the list and am still stuck. A bit of background... I have set up a Windows 2003 server as a domain controller here and configured it to be the DNS for a ficticious domain for internal use only. The domain functional

hosts.equiv management?
My first public-facing deployment of Puppet is likely to be on some parallel computing nodes we have here. One of our fluid dynamics packages expects to be able to rsh from one master node to other slave nodes in the same batch queue. I think I''ve made some good class definitions up to this last point, where code duplication rears its head. Example of the problem: class ch405-host

[LLVMdev] EquivalenceClasses: findValue vs. findLeader
Given an object o of ElemType in an instance of EquivalenceClasses, I need to get a list of all members of the equivalence class that o is in. For various reasons, it is easiest if I could get an EquivalenceClasses::iterator that I can pass to member_begin and member_end. So naturally, I did something like this (pseudo-C++): EquivalenceClasses::iterator i = equiv.findValue(o);

ZFS CIFS, smb.conf (smb/server) and LDAP
All; I am deeply sorry if this topic has been rehashed, checksummed, de-duplicated and archived before. But I just need a small clarification. /etc/sfw/smb.conf is necessary only for smb/server to function properly but is smb/server SMF service necessary for ZFS sharesmb to work I am trying to setup an open solaris file server acting as a Windows PDC with SAMBA/LDAP integration on the open

Possible bug in openssh parsing of hosts.equiv for netgroups?
Open-SSH'ers, I just noticed that ssh doesn't parse hosts.equiv the same as rsh. I set up an usertest user on targethost, and then su'ed to usertest on sourcehost. I put this in targethost's /etc/hosts.equiv + -usertest + at trusted-hosts (all hosts are rolled up into this netgroup) this should disallow usertest from rsh'ing into targethost from all hosts, but
