short ip range host allow in smb.conf
how would i put the following into smb.conf in a shorthand format
host allow all ip's from 192.168.0.151 to 192.168.0.185 but non outside this
range
without putting them all in separately, is it
host allow 192.168.0.151 - 192.168.0.185
?

Hier is a working smb.conf file, almoust working.
Hier is my new smb.conf (this smb wil make your win2000 profiles to be
stored in one directory, ''\\%L\Profiles''. Verry handy if you want one
mandatory profile for all users. It wil also make connection to the right
user home drive :).
Have fun, but beware! Right now for some wierd reson i can only log in with
root account and nobody else.

a "hidden" setting for a samba server
does anyone know how to hide a samba server in SMB terms?
on an NT machine the command "net config server /hidden:yes"
will make the machine vanish from the network neighbourhood but
i cant figure out how to do this for a samba server

"@" when using groups for say valid users or write list

IP address restrictions and multiple interfaces
Using Samba (2nd edition) discusses using the "interfaces" network
configuration option, along with "hosts allow", "hosts deny", etc, to
provide support of multiple interfaces. The examples cited only discuss the
scenario in which the interfaces are on different subnets.
What about the case in which the interfaces of a multi-homed systems are on
the same subnet?

Historically, our samba servers need to run with the two 'untouchables'
"nt pipe support" and "nt smb support" both set to "no" (non default)
based on a recommendation by one of our software vendors. These settings

Samba4 (4.1.9) on Ubuntu 12.04 here (seen same behavior on 4.1.6 on
Ubuntu 14.04).
I've encountered an annoying bug with samba-tool, some exceptions aren't
caught causing the tool to crash if it finds something it doesn't like

mystified by interaction between krb5.conf, smb.conf, and winbindd
I am stumped here. I am a novice at using samba to do MS Active
Directory stuff, but I have read everything I could find in the HOWTO
collection and on the linux.samba cache of the list and am still stuck.

hosts.equiv management?
My first public-facing deployment of Puppet is likely to be on some
parallel computing nodes we have here. One of our fluid dynamics
packages expects to be able to rsh from one master node to other slave
nodes in the same batch queue. I think I''ve made some good class
definitions up to this last point, where code duplication rears its head.

[LLVMdev] EquivalenceClasses: findValue vs. findLeader
Given an object o of ElemType in an instance of EquivalenceClasses, I need
to get a list of all members of the equivalence class that o is in. For
various reasons, it is easiest if I could get an EquivalenceClasses::iterator
that I can pass to member_begin and member_end.

Possible bug in openssh parsing of hosts.equiv for netgroups?
Open-SSH'ers,
I just noticed that ssh doesn't parse hosts.equiv the same as rsh.
I set up an usertest user on targethost, and then su'ed to usertest
on sourcehost. I put this in targethost's /etc/hosts.equiv
+ -usertest
+ at trusted-hosts (all hosts are rolled up into this netgroup)
this should disallow usertest from rsh'ing into targethost from all
hosts, but
