samba4 and sssd and user mapping
Hi everyone, on a server running samba4 with sssd for nsswitch mapping, I realized recently that on windows workstation in the "folder propery/security tab", users are mapped as "Unix user\userlogin" instead of "DOMAINNAME\userlogin". I guess this is due to the fact that sssd mapping with getent passwd gives me user name without domain name (eg. userlogin), and

search path for attaching packages
Several of us locally are puzzling over the following problem: We have a central repository of R packages on our linux system. Occasionally, we'd like to install a different version of the same package (such as making updates to the survival package before it is released to the larger group, or a downloaded beta version). When using the library function, it appears that lib.loc is not

Samba AD Debug Login Script / Sometimes Network drive not connected
Hello, I have migrate my samba NT4 Domain to AD. There are 2 DC for failover. Sysvol is synced with rsync. Sometimes the network drive is not connected on userlogin. A manual start of login script or relogin do solve that problem. Did someone know whats wrong there? How can I debug the login process? There is no command window like on windows nt4 domain login process. Clients are Windows 7.

X flag in smbpasswd?
mksmbpasswd.sh does not create accounts with the X flag in the password flags field. Does this X matter, and if so, what does it mean? Allow for passing Ctrl-C and don't mix stderr with stdout
I have been losing my mind over this problem, so any ideas are welcome. When running non-interactive jobs on remote machines, I want output to stderr and to stdout to remain separate in two streams just as if they were run locally. I also want jobs running remotely to die when I press Ctrl-C just as if they were run locally. At first glance these do not seem to be mutual exclusive, but when you

howto sync unix passwd & samba passwd?
Hi, I'm using samba-3.0.28-0.fc8. I'm trying to build a file server for 100 users. I created a perl script that automatically adds the 100 users plus their passwords with success. Now I'm having difficulty creating a script using the smbpasswd command because passwords must be entered in stdin. I also tried smbpasswd -s option but it asks passwd in stdin. Is there a way that I can use
