shlib problems with Intel compiler
Hi Martyn, Thanks for your insight, that seems pretty direct. Unfortunately, I did not compile this version of R (it's on a large supercomputer system and this version of R was installed by the admins). Using "R CMD config", I see the following relevant settings: DYLIB_LD = icc -std=gnu99 DYLIB_LDFLAGS = -shared -openmp LDFLAGS = -L/opt/compilers/intel/cce/9.1.039/lib

shlib problems with Intel compiler
Hi, I'm encountering trouble compiling caTools_1.17.1.tar.gz and e1071_1.6-4.tar.gz on a Linux system using the Intel compiler suite. 14 other packages I generally use installed without any trouble. I notice both of these trouble packages have a C++ component, so I wonder if that might be the issue. Below, there's information on my platform, compiler, and some diagnostic output showing

Samba member server behavior if WAN down ?
Hello, we are trying to use samba 3.6 over a big network with multiple xdsl link (512Kbit to 10 Mbits not symetric). We have a main site with two domain controlers (Windows 2k8 R2) and about one hundred middle sites with samba member servers. We have a big issue with Active Directory (AD) ACL which disapear when member server (powered by samba and winbind) can't discuss (for network

Rubies of Eventide and WINE
Hi. I'm using WINE on a Mac through Darwine and it's help application and I'm having trouble getting the program to run. First of all, whenever I start it I get a "Missing shell DLL 'cshell.dll'", even though I downloaded one and put it into the .wine directory in my home folder. Any ideas? I've followed all the current AppDB suggestions up to now, but it still

e1071, R1.9.0, Solaris 2.9, should I be worried?
In R 1.9.0 running under Solaris 2.9 on a SunBlade 100, with "Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C++ 5.3 2001/05/15" as the C++ compiler, I just did > install.packages("e1071") The output includes these lines, which I have wrapped to fit nicely in mail: ** libs cc -I/users/local/lib/R/include -I/usr/local/include -KPIC -xlibmil \ -dalign -xO4 -c cmeans.c -o cmeans.o cc

SFU Permission Denied
This appears to be an old problem, but is a complete show stopper for us at the moment. We are trying to access an NFS file system, via Samba, from a WinXP client. Within Windows itself everything is fine, but when accessing the shares from within an SFU cshell, an error is returned when a file is created. The file is successfully created, but a "Permission Denied" error is returned.

new version of e1071 on CRAN
A new version of e1071 has been released to CRAN which should be much easier to install on a lot of platforms because reading/writing PNM images has been moved to the pixmap package, hence there are no longer dependencies on external libraries and no configure mechanism. For the authors, Fritz Leisch ********************************************************** Changes in Version 1.2-0: o

error compiling portable openssh 3.6.1p1 on SGI IRIX 6.5x
Hi, First checking out http://www.openbsd.org/errata.html Following is output and error from trying to compile the latest openssh on SGI IRIX (using cc). Previous versions of openssh have compiled cleanly on this system using the following configure options. Is there a quick fix for this? Cheers, Lachlan. ------------------------------------------------------- For SGI IRIX 6.5x 10151453

proposal: stats::as.matrix.ftable method
Following some discussion on R-help, I'd like to propose that an as.matrix method be added to those available for ftable objects. The reason for this is that there are a variety of situations where one needs to flatten a 3+ way table, but then use that for analysis as a matrix, not just for pretty-printing. There is an as.table method to turn the result back to a table, but an as.matrix

Samba 3 use of /etc/passwd /etc/shadow
We've been running Samba2.2.x and relying on the underlying Solaris user authentication (/etc/passwd /etc/shadow). For historical reasons, we've allowed plaintext passwords. Now as we've upgraded to Samba 3.0.3. we would like to continue this method of authentication (at least until we can implement ldap). The docs are sketchy at best (you can use plaintext authentication, etc.), but

(no subject)
Hi list, I'd like to raise the issue discussed in the thread below. I've faced exactly the same problem and came to exactly the same way out - shutdown winbindd and use "force unknown acl user". We use "simple" mapping in the environment - all AD accounts have corresponding NIS accounts (the same name) and the mapping is being done by smbd. The problem here is that

Advanced printers shares
Hi Here the problem. I am using samba 2.0.10 on sparc Solaris 8 platform in a Nis env. Currently we have about 100 or so printers listed in printers.conf nis map, these printers cover our 5 sites which all use the same nis env. Each site has one Domain master, and a local master on any separate subnets, as not all is in the same domain. When ours users log into a samba server they are

latex tables for 3+ dimensional tables/arrays
I'm looking for an R method to produce latex versions of tables for table/array objects of 3 or more dimensions, which, of necessity is flattened to a 2D display, for example with ftable(), or vcd::structable, as shown below. I'd be happy to settle for a flexible solution for the 3D case. > UCB <- aperm(UCBAdmissions, c(2, 1, 3)) > ftable(UCB) Dept A B

aperm() should retain class of input object
aperm() was designed for multidimensional arrays, but is also useful for table objects, particularly with the lattice, vcd and vcdExtra packages. But aperm() was designed and implemented before other related object classes were conceived, and I propose a small tune-up to make it more generally useful. The problem is that aperm() always returns an object of class 'array', which
