Couldn't open status file /var/adm/slh/samba/locks/STATUS..LC K
Gunnar, Check (ll -d dirname) to make sure that there is at least x permission for everyone in each directory down the /var/adm/slh/samba/locks path; also, does the STATUS..LCK file exist in the named directory, and if so what are the permissions on it? Hope this helps, Don -----Original Message----- From: Bakken, Gunnar [mailto:bakkengj@mail.slh.wisc.edu] Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 6:08 PM

NT poledit.* & common.adm & winnt.adm & windows.adm
I've googled my brains out trying to find the "latest" NT 4.0 System Policy Editor files: POLEDIT.CNT POLEDIT.EXE POLEDIT.HLP COMMON.ADM (NT & W9x) WINNT.ADM (NT) WINDOWS.ADM (W9x) I only have dialup access, and it will take me a zillion days to download SP6 for NT so I can extract the above files. Can any one point me to where I can D/L those six (or 0110) files? Thanks

Is it safe to delete ferret-write.lck if it is stale?
I''m noticing that ferret-write.lck sometimes stays in my index directory and throws exceptions whenever someone tries to do a search. Apparently there are some cases where ferret doesn''t realize that the file is old and can be deleted. I''m wondering what the best way to recover from this error is. Am I safe just writing a cron job that deletes this file if it is over

[cfe-dev] More verbose -mspeculative-load-hardening
Another thing to consider about your feature idea is that the output may be noisy depending on what you were hoping for. SLH tries to mitigate anything that could potentially be a problem and thus it instruments almost every branch, load, and function entry, for example. There isn't a lot of signal about what is really a gadget among the code instrumented by SLH. It really tries to be

Samba support for ADM files
Hi What I would like to do is have my custom adm files in a shared folder on my samba server so that if I make a change, it updates the windows XP clients on my network in a similar fashion to active directory on a windows server. tuned-adm fixed Windows VM disk write performance on CentOS 6
On a 32bit Windows 2008 Server guest VM on a CentOS 5 host, iometer reported a disk write speed of 37MB/s The same VM on a CentOS 6 host reported 0.3MB/s. i.e. The VM was unusable. (See http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2012-August/002961.html) With iometer still running in the guest, I installed tuned on
