high cpu load with share_conflict on browsing and opening files
Hello, I have a server running samba version 4.7.1 on centos 7.5 1) A series of operations by a windows 10 (up to date) pc client consisting of  searching (or browsing)/opening/modifying/closing a (each time different) file multiple times on a samba share containing many files (more than 11000) goes fast for a while. 2) Then the same operation (or just the searching or opening) of the same user

File lock
I am failing to lock a database file on a unix server (Solaris486) when the file lock request is sent from Visual Foxpro on Windows 95. Any suggestions on testing procedures, or even a solution?? Please feel free to assume that I don't know anything about file locks! I don't even know how Visual Foxpro attempts to lock a file. Would the Foxpro lock be recognised by any application?

samba-2.2.* slow when lock files are on a NFS file system
Note that I also posted this to comp.protocols.smb under the subject Lock files must not be on an NFS file system. I don't know how closely you follow that group. On Feb 7 2002 I sent out a message titled samba-2.2.2 slower than samba-2.0.7 on Solaris where I described a problem where any file access encountered a 3 to 4 second delay to open the file. After trying again with samba-2.2.5 and

Config that worked before doesn't work now.. can't lock file..
Hello all, I hope this is the list - I get E-mail addresses mixed up when there are many.. Summary & Intro :) I have a file server named Jukebox, running RedHat 7.0 OOTB (Out Of The Box), installed as NFS server. I removed ypbind from this config and installed samba and all its dependencies, as delivered by RedHat, with RPM. After this, I took the smb.conf which worked on the previous

is mutex lock on mongrel needed for activerecord?
I''ve seen a bunch of posts in various place about whether or not mongrel needs to lock when doing activerecord queries. I''m talking outside the context of rails here, for example, in a custom mongrel handler. It seems to work fine for me without a lock, but I haven''t done any extensive testing. When I ask around, some people say you need that mutex lock with

Gluster failure due to "0-management: Lock not released for <volumename>"
The nodes have all been rebooted numerous times with no difference in outcome. The nodes are all connected to the same switch and I also replaced it to see if made any difference. There is no issues with connectivity network wise and no firewall in place between the nodes. I can?t do a gluster volume status without it timing out the moment the other 2 nodes are connected to the switch.

lofiadm -d keeps a lock on file in an nbmand-mounted zfs
Hi, Has anyone seen the following problem? After "lofiadm -d" removes an association, the file is still locked and cannot be moved or deleted if the file resides in a ZFS mounted with nbmand=on. There are two ways to remove the lock. (1) remount the zfs by the unmount+mount; the lock is removed even if nbmand=on option is given again, or (2) reboot the system. I don''t have

apt-get lock the administration directory
Greetings to everyone, I have a doubt about how puppet works and I would appreciate if some of you have the answer to this. The question arise in the following scenario: Suppose I have two module that both of them need to install a package. Let''s say I have a module that install apache and another that installs mysql. They have something like this at some point: apache::install class

does rsync lock exclusively files to copy?
I'm running rsync 2.5.6 on windows (via cygwin) and I've had other processes try to open the same files as rsync, but could not get through sometimes. Does rsync place a shared lock or an exclusive lock on the files it will copy from? I checked into the sources but did not find any use of flock() which could specify either LOCK_SH or LOCK_EX, so I'm not sure what the open() does when

samba 3.0 doesn't lock Word files!!
Dear All , I am re-posting after a couple of weeks the following issue related to MS Word and Samba 3.0 hoping that this time somebody could help me unlock the mystery. I have installed Samba 3.0 rpm on RH 9 and cannot get past an elementary file lock issue such as opening a file through MS WORD by multiple users from different MS workstations (w2k, XP,W98, etc) in concurrent sessions. Dangling MS Access DB Lock Files *.ldb
I have an intermittent problem with dangling MS Access DB lock files. In a productive environment with N batch queus (each on a separate Windows XP Professional) a scheduler PC dispatches the work load to a free queue by means of modifying a simple MS Access DB file called "PRIM.mdb", which resides on a Samba 3.0.20 share. Each free queue PC polls the same MS Access DB file every 60

"could not open file /var/lock/samba/unexpected.tdb"
When I start winbindd (Samba v2.2.3a on Linux), I get the entries in log.winbindd shown below. What's the story on all those complaints about file "unexpected.tdb"? There is no general problem with Samba writing to that subdirectory: # ll /var/lock/samba/ total 288 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 696 Feb 12 22:01 brlock.tdb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 231 Feb 13
