CentOS won't shutdown ... or do anything else
I started to have problems similar to ones described in the past on this list but could not find any kind of resolution. I did an lsmod, a mount command, and for fun, did an strace on shutdown to see where it is hanging, and an ltrace as well. Any thoughts? RedHat Node Panic Weekly
See earlier post - May 10th "Node Panic" Can anyone tell me what might be happening here? I have a 3 node cluster running under RH AS 4 (2.6.9-34.ELsmp) with ocfs2 v. 1.2.1. I've upgraded to 1.2.1 as suggested in the previous post, but one or more of my nodes continues to panic weekly: Aug 16 15:29:02 linux96 kernel: (6670,2):ocfs2_extend_file:787 ERROR: bug expression:

Diskdump on a Logical Volume.
Alle, I'm trying to setup diskdump on a FJ E7110 notebook. Disk partitions were auto configured, using /dev/hda1 for /boot and /dev/hda2 for VolGroup00 (LogVol00 (/) and LogVol01 (swap)). Can diskdump be configured to use the logical swap volume? When I try to do the setup, the following occurs: [root at HOST sysconfig]# service diskdump initialformat Formatting dump device:

Problems patching fs/jbd/checkpoint.c in RHEL4 2.6.9-67.0.4 kernel
My manual patching of the rejects in checkpoint.c didn''t work out; a delete of 10,000 files caused a panic (in any ext fs, not just Lustre). In the new checkpoint.c, two routines expected by the patch no longer exist: __cleanup_transaction and __flush_buffer. I can avoid the panic if I omit (don''t try to manually patch) the following: Index: linux-2.6.9/fs/jbd/checkpoint.c

service --status-all hangs CentOS-4.6?
Is there a problem with running # service --status-all as root over ssh? A system that I performed this command upon has become non-responsive on all ports, leading me to conclude that it is either hung or the cpu is completely consumed with some task. [PATCH] ocfs2: flush dentry lock drop when sync ocfs2 volume.
In commit ea455f8ab68338ba69f5d3362b342c115bea8e13, we move the dentry lock put process into ocfs2_wq. This is OK for most case, but as for umount, it lead to at least 2 bugs. See http://oss.oracle.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1133 and http://oss.oracle.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1135. And it happens easily if we have opened a lot of inodes. For 1135, the reason is that during umount will call

Kernel Panic - possibly NFS related?
Hi Folks, This is my first post here, and unfortunately it's to ask for help in figuring out a kernel panic I am running into. The machine in question has run fine without problem for quite some time, running as a database/web server. It has an identical (hardware) twin that performs essentially the same functions, but which has not had any kernel panics. The only recent change I've

ZFS and powerpath
How much fun can you have with a simple thing like powerpath? Here''s the story: I have a (remote) system with access to a couple of EMC LUNs. Originally, I set it up with mpxio and created a simple zpool containing the two LUNs. It''s now been reconfigured to use powerpath instead of mpxio. My problem is that I can''t import the pool. I get: pool: ###### id:

RE: [Patch][RFC] Support "xm dump" (is Re: Re: [Patch]Enable "sysrq c" handler for domU coredump)
Two things: 1. I''m not convinced ''xm crash'' is needed - ''xm destroy'' will do this (and if you want a dump, do ''xm dump'' followed by ''xm destroy'') 2. I don''t see the point of the --noreboot option on ''xm dump'' -- I think this command should simply live-dump the specified domain - as

how to debug random server reboots
Hi all, One of our CentOS 5.3 randomly reboots, at different times of the day, and I can't see why it's doing it. I have looked through the logs, but don't see any thing in there that shows me why it has rebooted. How can I debug this? Here's a snipped from the log, around the time of the reboot: Jun 2 14:59:59 usaxen02 kernel: EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data

Re: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 13, Issue 109
These hardware issues are a joke. Go with Sangoma- they immplement PCI properly and don't have any of these system board issues. One of their sales guys told me that they would take their prodcut back and pay me $500 if I found a PCI system newer than 2 years that they did not work with. Pretty compelling no?
