What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

No joy adding a CUPS printer
I'm trying to change my Samba setup from LPD to CUPS, with little
success. I've followed [and re-followed] the setup documentation
from CUPS and I just can't get Samba to recognize my printer.
The catch is - it sort of recognizes it :-(
First I added these lines to my smb.conf:

printing = cups

Slow windows -> cups print - CONCLUSION
Hi list,
I've just figured it out.
When we're installing the drivers from adobe there's a part where we must
"Select the Printer Model". By default it uses the "Generic Postscript Printer"
(it has an associated PPD for that). We must get a PPD for our printer
(installed on the linux server) from the www.linuxprinting.org, click the
"Browse" button and

Difficulty with Samba 2.2.8 and native CUPS PS drivers
I've recently attempted to convert from the Adobe PostScript drivers for my
Canon BJC=2110 printer over to the native CUPS Windows PS drivers and can't
quite get things to work correctly. After deleting the printer on my
WinXP SP1 clients, verifying under "Server Properties" that the Adobe driver
was removed, then reconnecting to my Samba printer, I connect fine but receive

Solaris 8 and cups issues
Hello there,
I have a solaris 8 server running cups 1.1.20 and samba 3.0.1. We've
successfully configured a handful of HP Laserjet network printers to
work
with our windows clients (works like a champ...very happy with winbind
and
the "point and print" automatic driver installation).
However, we can't print from Solaris clients? We have one physical
printer

Printing problem with CUPS and lp/lpr
I know that printing on Linux is somewhat of an art form, but I have
a fairly simple problem. I used the following command to configure a
networked printer (HP LaserJet 8150):
lpadmin -p name -E -v socket://name -m laserjet.ppd -u allow:all -
u deny:none
This added and enabled the printer, and I can print to it using the
print command from within a GUI application and PostScript

cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all,
I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and
cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to
add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having
difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use.
I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot
find the PPD file... where is

printer trouble - missing driver?
I can't get my HP DeskJet D2345 (USB) to work on my CentOS 5.3 machine.
It'll work on another machine (with Fedora 7).
I compared the installation details (in CUPS http://localhost:631) -
seems that Cent does not have the driver. On the F7 machine, the device
is "D2345 (HP D2300 series)" and the driver is "HP DeskJet D2300
Foomatic/hpijs". When I try to config my

pdf printer
Hi,
I created a PDFPrinter as per
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=105301236523413&w=2
I have another question, do I need to add a Color Laser Printer Driver in
W2K to the PDF share to generate color PDF in Windows?

Which versions of CUPS and Samba are you using?
And are you *really* still using the "cupsomatic"-PPD
from Linuxprinting.org for that *PostScript*-printer??

hi all,
i have samba 3.0 on a fedora-linux running. almost everyting works fine,

I have a Debian laptop and an OS X desktop computer.
on the Mac I have set up windows file sharing and I have set up print sharing.
I then proceded to install samba and komba2 on my system....all set up and
komba2 sees mt workgroup and sees the shared printer...it registers it with
CUPS and everything........
however, I tried printing and nothing happened. I checked CUPS on the laptop

Samba & CUPS: only banner-page gets printed
In my setup I'm running Samba 3.0.23d-19.2 and CUPS 1.2.7-12.1.
Printing from a windows-client works fine, until I instruct CUPS to add
a banner-page. The banner-page then is the only thing that gets printed.
Doing the same from Linux everything works fine. I get my job including
a banner-page.
The Windows-printjob is passed raw from Samba to CUPS...
Anyone has an idea?
Best,

cupsaddsmb - problem; once again
Hello,
I posted 2 weeks ago this problem and it is currently not working.
First thanks a lot for all the hints and helps.
In the attached file I have added (hopefully) all informations.
To summarize:
I want to setup a print server, which allows the user to
download the necessary files for new printers.
Installed are (on top of suse 7.1) samba 2.2.6_pre2 and cups 1.1.15_1.
Installed the printers,

(Idiot outside) - smbprngenpdf printer driver?
Well, I wasn't really awake I guess.. It's just a script that calls
GhostScript for pdf generation..
But the question still stands, what IS the best quality printer driver to
use for GhostScript -> pdf printing? We need both colours and high
resolution..

I just saw that. I now have it so that it prints a few pages, then locks
up the printer. Funny, it worked just fine under CentOS5, now under CentOS
6, it won't? That's weird. Do you, or anyone else, have any

samba.
Hi.
I run SuSE 8.1 and samba here. On the linux machine I have a HP1100A on the
parallel port, and a HP-DJ895Cxi on a USB port.
I can print ok from this linux machine to both printers.
From my laptop, that runs WIN98, I can print to the HP1100A printer.
I cannot print to the DJ895Cxi, even if its set up as a network printer.
I could do this with SuSE dists up to 8.0.
From 8.1 printers are

A few issues with samba & cups
Hi all.
I have Samba-3.0.1 sharing 2 printers via the 'share all printers'
feature - the printers are an HP 4500 colour laser, and a Ricoh Aficio
AP3200 ( accepting jobs like a network HP does ).
I followed the instructions on the CUPS website for sharing printers
with the CUPS windows driver, using their 'cupsaddsmb' script, which
basically takes your existing ppd file, and
