been shared out read-only for the purposes of a script which runs on the Linux box that copies files for backup. On one ME box, I can access the C:\WINDOWS directory without difficulty from Linux, however, on the second ME box, the C:\WINDOWS directory does not show up as a directory and has a zero byte size when using 'smbmount' and 'ls' as follows: [root@vault /root]# smbmount

Bug report: smbmount 2.0.6 and NT pagefile.sys bug
Hi, I have just installed Samba 2.0.6 and noticed that the "pagefile.sys" smbmount bug still exists: When unsing smbmount to mount an NT4 volume, and doing an "ls" on the mounted directory, I get: # ls /mnt ls: pagefile.sys: Permission denied . IO.SYS SRVMGR.EXE ffastun.ffa summary.dat .. KBROWSER

Excludes not working
Hello, I'm a relative newbie to rsync, I use it to backup (mirror) a bunch of Windows boxes. I mount them using samba (to avoid having to install the cygwin version on each box) then run (using rsync 2.5.2 run from crontab) rsync -vuaz --delete-excluded --exclude-from=/root/bin/rsync.exclude \ --modify-window=2 /mnt/pc/machine/share /backup/machine/share It works like a charm, except

0% Capacity on mounted volume
Hi I'm having a small problem identifying why one of our Windows 95 machines shows 0% Capacity when mounted using smbmount. In fact, all other Windows machines show the correct value, but this one machine doesn't. eg: # smbmount //win95/dev /mnt/win95/dev -c linux -U user -P password # df Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on ... //win95/dev 2096832

make archive emails undeletable?
I've been using dovecot for a year or two now, and really like it. I have a fairly simple setup, but I think it's time to get a little more advanced. I keep an "archive" of all my email, both sent and received. Every once in a while I get confused, and accidentally delete something from my archive. I also worry that I'll misconfigure a mail client some day and

known membership of the ZFS Working Group
I understand that some participants would prefer to keep their participation non-public, and so I do not expect the Group to have a home page at this time. In the absence of a web page, please can we list here the individual and organisational members who are *happy* for their membership to be known? This should not defocus from technical discussion, neither it is intended to detract from this

Window#paint patch
Attached is a patch and some extra files to fix our ObjectPreviouslyDeleted crasher with the paint method. As discussed, it just re-implements the method in Ruby. I created a directory lib/wx/classes as a place to hold Ruby extensions to the API. The attached app.rb and window.rb files should be added to it. When this patch is applied, files in that directory are automatically required on

Winbind problem
Posted: Thu Jul 15, 2004 11:34 am Post subject: Samba/winbind and ADS problem I almost have this. I have read the docs, I have read this, I have purchased both books from the samba team, and I cannot find any help from any of these. We are trying to migrate from OLDDOMAIN (an NT4 Domain) to NEWDOMAIN (our Win2k3 Domain). I have a two way trust right now between the domains. I have
