Not that it is all that new, but I have worked on a ton of AIX Samba systems that are runing 1.9.x and the smbprint worked great in all aspects. I work in a lab were the only "printer" we have is an HP 3100 (printer/fax/scanner) item. This printer is hung off a Windows98 box and I want to be able to print to it from my linux box using smbprint. I can connect to the share that represents this printer: smbclient \\\\server\\printer "" -N and I get the SMB> prompt which (I think) is pretty useless for printers.

HI all, Question: I have a freeBSD box using smbprint to print on a HP jet direct printer attatched to a NT server. However the formatting is horrible and it only prints out about the first 2 lines of a file. Any suggesstions out there? thanks! -aaz

Dear Samba Team, the smbprint script as provided with Suse7.2 for Samba Version 2.2.0 did not work. The problem was that the file to be printed was not transfered via stdin after the print - command. I changed the smbprint script to pass the commands via the -c option. My changes and comments are marked with MR27092001MR in the smbprint attached. I did not find this in the lists, so I hope this

Hello I have this problem with printing to a HP Laser Jet 4L set up on my linux box which is the local samba server for the intranet. I can only print as root or as a user admin user = thatuser.
