swat and the print command field
I've been using SWAT to configure SAMBA for file and print serving at the organization I work at, and I ran into a hitch. The print command we use in smb.conf is "enq -r -c -o"-dc" -P%p %s". After SWAT updates (and when it starts up), the print command in the SWAT display is shortened to "enq -r -c -o". The proper print command is saved into smb.conf, but it needs

What features does SWAT support? (maybe bug)
We're running Samba 2.0.6 on AIX 4.3.2.0 Is there a home page for SWAT or somewhere else that I can look to see what smb.conf parameters SWAT supports? I prefer editing the smb.conf file with vi, but some of the administrators here like to use SWAT. A while back, I put an include line into the smb.conf file to get around differences between our WinNT and Win95/98 machines. A couple

Greetings. Is there a quick and easy way to find out what the %a substitution string returns for a given computer? We were having some problems that I though might be due to it, and I'd like to know how to find out if it is the problem. I tried putting it in the server string, but looking at it in network neighborhood always gives me "UNKNOWN". The computers I tried looking

I can see the work group that this machine has created from all my windows based machines and I can see my windows domain from the linux box. This made me happy since I am a nubie to this Linux stuff. But that's where the joy stopped. When I double click on the linux box from my windows box network places I get an

Smbclient Connection to Samba server failed
I played with the smb.config file long enough to get both the smbd and nmbd daemons to run. Then ran TESTPARM against the correct smb, conf file without issue. Finally I tried the following command: [root@cofr3 /]# smbclient -U illingsk -L MySQL added interface ip=172.17.60.6 bcast=172.17.63.255 nmask=255.255.248.0 wins_srv_died(): WINS server 172.16.0.121 appears to be down. samba 2.4 and win2k clients doesn't work
Hello, i'm new to the the list so excuse me if I ask for an old problem, but i found no solution in the archive. I try to set up a rh 7.3 server with samba 2.4 as PDC for win2000 sp2 clients. I configured the samba to create the machine accounts on the fly. When I try to join the domain the entries in smbpass and passwd are created fine. After a minute I get the message that I joined the

"ADVANCED" means it only shows in the advanced view (unless its value is non default, in which case it shows in the basic view as well). Do people think this is the right settings for

Since everyone seems to only post problems to this list, I thought that I would try and post a number of solutions at once. This is my working samba configuration file (minus key indentyfying information). It may not be perfect, but it is as close as I have been able to get it to perfect, and that is after working with samba for a few years. This configuration has my server setup as a PDC (with

How do you get to the GLOBALS/Advanced list? The radio buttons don't seem to do anything, and nothing I tried refreshes the page with Advanced instead of Basic.
