Making a share visible only to members of a group
Hi,

I tried to realize this by using include like: #include smb.conf.%G
But it did not work correctly. Sometimes the share was visible,
sometimes it wasnt,
and if it was visible, network path wasnt found afterwards.

swat and the print command field
I've been using SWAT to configure SAMBA for file and print serving at the
organization I work at, and I ran into a hitch.
The print command we use in smb.conf is "enq -r -c -o"-dc" -P%p %s".
After SWAT updates (and when it starts up), the print command in the SWAT
display is shortened to "enq -r -c -o".
The proper print command is saved into smb.conf, but it needs

Printing with smbclient
I just installed smb so bear with me. I would like to automate printing from
Linux to NT with smbclient. Can I lp to an NT printer using smbclient. I would
like my users to be able to print from PINE on Linux without having to enter a
password and then "print filename".

using and testing %a
Greetings.
Is there a quick and easy way to find out what the %a substitution string
returns for a given computer? We were having some problems that I though
might be due to it, and I'd like to know how to find out if it is the
problem. I tried putting it in the server string, but looking at it in
network neighborhood always gives me "UNKNOWN". The computers I tried

dovecot-lda panics when postmaster_address is given on command line
Hi,
When passing a postmaster_address to dovecot-lda on the command line
with -o, it panics:

lda(onno,)Panic: file lda-settings.c: line 80 (lda_settings_check):
assertion failed: (set->postmaster_address[0] ==

It looks like postmaster_address has already been expanded at that point
when it's given on the

Question on start_form_tag and get post method
Hi all,
I have a simple question about start_form_tag. It default generates
method=post. I was wondering how you could use start_form_tag to generate
method=get. Probably a simple question but one I can''t answer with the API
doc.
Thanks in advance,

zpool labelclear destroys GPT data
When i use zpool labelclear, it wipes the whole disk including gpt data.
So the whole disk is empty and i need to create the gpt partitions again.
Is this supposed to work like this?
The man page suggests that it only wipes the ZFS metadata.
zpool labelclear [-f] device
Removes ZFS label information from the specified device. The
device

Samba on Centos 7.x
Hi to everyone. .I recently installed Centos 7.x and used to run Redhat
services also workin with Samba before. I am a little rusty ;)
Is there a good manual/guide for the full installation and config process
for Samba and Centos 7.x that someone can share. This would really help. I
can share this with my team. (maybe the most important ones are the
not-to-dos to not open up the server to the

pop3 creates bad index file
Hi,
When I use pop3 to log on to a (Maildir) mailbox that doesn't yet exist in the
filesystem, the pop3 server autocreates it for me. This works.

vpopmail quota
Hi,
I'd like the vpopmail user database to return the quota settings for users,
instead of having to rely on the validity of the maildirsize files. It
doesn't look like this is currently possible.
Would simply adding a auth_stream_reply_add call for "quota" with a suitable
value in vpopmail_lookup be sufficient to make this work?
(the quota can be read from the pw_shell

Quota warning patch and config parsing in 1.0.2
Dovecot 1.0.2 patches and compiles fine with the quota warning patch
(http://www.dovecot.org/patches/quota-warning.patch). But, when parsing
the configuration file , deliver now seems to strip all of the spaces in
the QUOTA_WARNING environment variable, generating an error.
This is the plugin{} section from my dovecot.conf:
plugin {

verbose_proctitle for proxy processes?
Hi,
We're using Dovecot to proxy incoming POP3 and IMAP connections to the right
server. We'd like to be able to see what connections are currently open on
the proxy servers, without having the parse the log file.
For normal mail processes it's possible to use verbose_proctitle for this
purpose, but this setting doesn't work for proxy/login processes. Is it
possible to do

Windows Mobile and IMAP proxy
Hi,
We are running Dovecot proxies in front of our Dovecot IMAP servers, and were
having problems with Windows Mobile clients not being able to connect. The
clients would send a LOGIN command, and immediately after the succes reply a
LOGOUT command.
It turns out the Windows Mobile IMAP client gets confused by the IMAP proxy
first sending the command tag in the reply and then, in a seperate

printer admin problems with 2.2.4
We upgraded from 2.2.3a to 2.2.4 on a SuSE 7.2 server. We compiled Samba just
default. The new version seems to work ok with the exception of printer administration.
Printer admins are not able to see the properties of the printers (right click on printer
gives on error). Our workstations are W2k SP2. But users that are not printer admin
are able to see the properties of a printer, but they
