icecast2
Hi, I believe I have found another small problem. When a stream finishes, say using the libshout example code, icecast seems to go into a loop at lock at 100% CPU. This seems to be coming from the connenction select area. Any ideas? Also there were rumors around a while back that icecast2 would support rtsp and possibly real. Is there any strength in these rumors? Tim. --- >8 ---- List

CentOS, XFS, VirtualBox - can they just get along?
Hello all, I am running VirtualBox 4.1 on CentOS 6 and I got this warning that putting your VM's into an XFS filesystem is risky. I have also heard some rumors on the net to this effect. Does anyone know in more detail what's behind those rumors? Thanks. Boris.

ZFS and Virtualization
Hi experts, I have few issues about ZFS and virtualization: Virtualization and performance When filesystem traffic occurs on a zpool containing only spindles dedicated to this zpool i/o can be distributed evenly. When the zpool is located on a lun sliced from a raid group shared by multiple systems the capability of doing i/o from this zpool will be limited. Avoiding or limiting i/o to

Status of Xen-Powermanagement-Support
Hi! What is the current status of support for PowerNow! and Speedstep? As I remember there were rumors, that those techniques were just supported for dom0, meaning that all the guests would run slow if dom0 idles. Is there already a solution for this implemented (in the unstable-tree), so that guests do also influence power-state? If so, does it also work with dualcore-cpus or is it better

using R in a java application
Dear All, I'd like to write a little application in java wich should pass some commands and data to R and displays the results (tables and charts) in a java frame. First I wanted to work with Omegahat's SJava but had lots of issues already at the installation. Then I heard some rumors that SJava generally is not a very active project and runs rather buggy (that's true?). So my

DomU 2TB vbd limit?
Hi everyone, Just a quick question: Is there a limit on the vbd size for pv guest domains, I''ve found only rumors on the Internet about a 2TB limit, but from my experience with xen-3.0.3 /linux-kernel-2.6.18-5 (installed from a debian etch packages) I can say that a lvm volume of 3.7TB as created and formated in Dom0 is seen as 1.85TB only of course reporting a corrupted xfs filesystem

Asterisk 1.4.12 Release?
Hi All, I read rumors of a potential Asterisk 1.4.12 release for last week. I would like to start testing Asterisk 1.4 on Solaris, but, the fix for the segfault in res_features is only in the current development trunk. I would much rather test a release version, and as such, need to wait for the release of 1.4.12, my question is, do we have a guestimate on when it will be released, 1 week, 2

LVM problems [ was: bad blocks ... ]
On 6/4/05, John Hinton <webmaster at ew3d.com> wrote: > > Otherwise, I did have troubles with a LVM install and decided to never > try that one again... at least for a long time. > Now you have my curiosity aroused. Was this with CentOS3 or 4, ie LVM or LVM2? What problems? We use LVM on all our RH9 setups at work. No problems at all. OTOH, LVM2 is a work in progress that

composite primary keys
Hello, Is it true that Rails doesn''t support composite primary keys? I have a legacy system and was pondering adding a new interface to it. This whole Rails thing (and yes, Ruby too) seems pretty interesting but I''d feel ashamed of myself adding an additional column called ''id'' when there''s already a perfectly good composite key. Assuming the rumors

Pagemaker in wine, looking for hints
Hello, I'm looking for some hints on how to run pagemaker succesfully in wine. I run debian unstable and wine daily builds from http://gluck.debian.org/%7Eandreas/debian wine main When I installed Pagemaker 6.5 I had a lot of trouble with the dialogs, some could not be selected sometimes, stuck under other windows. It crashed two times when i tried custom install, as soon as i selected som

multicomp
Dear R people, I have heard rumors of a function called (I believe) multicomp in S+ for doing multiple comparisons for linear models. It doesn't seem to be in the version of R I am using, 0.90.0. Is there something equivalent to this in R, or does it simply not exist? I see there is are more recent versions of R. For my platform, SuSE Linux, the most recent rpm available appears to be

Sysinux 6 will not boot ISOs on BIOS (i.e. pre-UEFI) systems
Hi, poma wrote: > Hardly anyone reads manuals these days. There are manuals ? El Torito just specifies how to direct the BIOS to the boot image, and what the boot image can learn from the BIOS about its origin. Possibly this silently builds on MBR specs. But about those i can only find wikipedia rumors: "the CPU is in real mode and the general-purpose and segment registers are

[LLVMdev] [OT] ARMv8 (AArch64) server
Hi all I think the ARMv8 isa is awesome, but just wondering if anyone is doing the work around llvm (besides Apple). I've heard rumors, but not sure how far along any of those projects are. Anyone who needs a Fortran compiler for it or is interested to work together ping me off list please. Thanks Christopher

thought's on hostgator's "patch"
I realize the recent ssh exploit rumors appear to be false. However I've not saw any comments on hostgator's "patch" http://67.18.54.2/~davec/ssh_exploit_fix.txt They continue to talk as if they have inside information. Comments?

Asterisk vs. Vocal (Vovida) vs. Bayonne
Folks, I love Asterisk, have been using it for a while now. I'd like to know if anyone has some good comparison points on Asterisk vs. Vocal (Vovida) vs. GNU Bayonne. I know only a little about the later two. Also, one drawback I've hard about Asterisk (not for me, but for general consumption/deployment) is easy of configuration -- people like GUIs. They want point-n-click. I'm a

configure options for 3.x -still experimental?
Hello. I am trying to set up SAMBA 3.x on FC4. SAMBA will be PDC with no other server. I work at a K-12 school, so unless I want 20 episodes of "Family Guy" in a student's folder, I need to set quotas. I've been looking around for 2 days and I'm stumped. I found something called smbcquotas, but it seems to apply to a mixed NT server environment. I heard rumors of configure

analysis of function dependencies / namespacing
I am going to document a 10.000 lines of R code project. Before reinventing the wheel, has anyone written a function that analyzes dependencies between R functions? I am thinking of output like caller1 calee1 caller1 calee2 caller1 : caller2 calee7 : and I would like to restrict caller and callee to certain positions in the search path. My guess is, that a quick and dirty solution is

R on maemo
Has anyone tried to compile R on the Nokia maemo platform? I've been thinking about buying the n900 phone when it comes out, but I guess the main selling point would be a possibility to run R on it. I've read some rumors that it is based on debian, and that it can run X11 apps. In theory, you wouldn't even need to write any GUI. You should be able to run R in command line mode, with
