Samba 2.2.7a PDC gives errors - HELP!!!
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from an old version of Samba - Pre 2.2 to 2.27a,
running on RH8.0.
My network is setup as follows:
Multiple Samba Servers, each with 2 NIC's
One Server is configured as PDC with WINS.
The other servers are configured as BDC using the PDC for WINS support.
I do not use LDAP or winbindd.
Each user has an entry in /etc/passwd and smbpasswd.

Fw: Forcing password changes using SAMBA as PDC
Hi, I did as suggested, and still have the same problem.
I am still able to login to samba with another users password that does not
require password changes. This seems to me that the problem is related to
PAM password changing. I have tried change the various PAM options in the
smb.conf file, but cannot get it to work. Depending on the options, it
either asks for a password or not. When it asks

Forcing password changes using SAMBA as PDC
Hi, I have the password chat working correctly, but now need to know how to
force SAMBA to expire passwords on Windows clients and then request new
passwords.
Any ideas? I have looked at the archives and done a few searches, but cannot
find anything relating to doing this in SAMBA, only using PAM under the
terminal...
I am running in digest mode, so would appreciate it if you could e-mail me

File Locking problem
Hi, I have an SMB server running RH6.2 with SMB 2.0.7.
All the clients are WIN95, and require access to a database on the SAMBA
server.
The problem is that the database locks the file while the user is modifying
it, and then unlocks it when the user returns to the programs menu. If the
user then selects another action that uses the same file the program reports
that the file is locked.

Samba error codes
Hi, I am a newbie to this list and to Samba, and have a concern about my
Samba servers.
I am getting a number of messages on the consoles of both my Samba servers,
it reads "smb-retry: signal failed, error=-3"
Can someone please explain this to me? Also, is there a list of error codes
for Samba?

DNS forwading for host *within* AD
Hi, I am currently running Samba 4.0.9 as a DC.
My AD domain and Kerberos realm is "domain.com". Although this was not
considered when we set up the domain, now we need "foo.domain.com" to be
resolved externally by our ISP DNS server.
I tried to configure BIND as a backend and to manuallly add a zone "
foo.domain.com", type forward, but it does not work (Samba DLZ

Change of listening ports - is it possible?
Hi All.
I am spawning gluster clusters in docker containers and in current

Caller ID spoofing
Hello everybody!
I am having the following problem and since I am a beginner in playing
with asterisk, i can't solve it:
I am trying to integrate my existing H.323 network in real world
telephony by ISDN cards. The problem is that i DON'T want to change all
e164 numbers in my h.323 network and my ISDN provider doesn't accept
those identities (CIDs). So, i have to spoof the outgoing

[Bridge] One NIC not bridging?
Hello,
I'm having a problem getting two (working) NICs enslaved to a bridge to both
work in the bridge.
The setup is just for testing and looks like this:
(NETWORK)-------|bridge|---------|test PC|
I'm building a bridge from an old Dell Optiplex GX1 desktop. Using
kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-r4, with bridging and ebtables compiled into the kernel;
the two PCI NICs are Intel, and the e100

Asterisk : using setvar with IP Realtime and variable inheritance
Hi,
I have what I think is a relatively advanced question. Any help is
appreciated, even if it's not a complete answer.
I am using Asterisk in mostly realtime fashion, specifically SIP
registrations are in a MySQL table. This works fine (mostly). I also set a
few variables in the setvar column, like this:
callerid_internal=test <710>;did=5555551234
Again, this works

Best Firewall Suggestions?
Hi,
My customer has a outdated firewall that is also presenting a NAT nightmare
for getting the Asterisk server reachable from the internet.
What firewalls work good with VOIP? I really want to steer away from any ALG
supported firewall. I just want a good firewall that works well with
Asterisk.
Thanks,
David Wathen

Default router on different subnet - Is it possible?
In the below example normal Internet traffic is routed as shown from
node1 to internet1. The node1 defaultrouter points to the firewall and
the firewall points to internet1. For node2 is it possible to add it's
own link to the Internet passing through the same default router and
firewall as node1. The links do not need to failover or provide any
redundancy.
