Printing - "lprm command" not getting executed
I am attempting to get printing services for Windows 2000 clients working with Samba on a Red Hat 7.2 box. The problem is I can not cancel print jobs (either from a PC or the local smb client). File sharing, and printing other than this problem, work fine. Here is a listing of configuration and system info: 1) the samba packages installed, 2) output of "uname -a", 3) the

Problems Printing w/ Caldera OpenServer
I am having problems getting Samba configured so I can print. I am going from Windows XP to Samba. I don't get any error messages in Windows saying that there is a problem. It sends the document then that is it. It is like the document gets lost. I am able to print through Linux and WebMin. What should I look at next? I am using the latest version of Caldera OpenServer. I believe the version

Win2K Printer "Access Denied" Error
Hello, I have a new RH 7.2 installation (kernel 2.4.7-10) with Samba 2.2.1a and I can't print from my Win2K box. I get an "Access denied: unable to connect" error from the printer entry in Windows. The logs don't seem to be helping me. Here's my smb.conf file: [global] workgroup = MYGROUP server string = Samba SMB Server interfaces = 192.168.1.1/24 127.0.0.1/24 hosts

windows client use Linux printer
Hi, Well, my previous attempt to get info on that matter was lame and therefore no one replied. Here is a second attempt. I need info about how to configure samba server and the windows (2000) client to use a printer on the samba server machine. I read the article: http://de.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#AEN833 but all I got from it was confusion. I need a

Problem with job removal
Hi, We've been stuck with this problem for a while now and we believe I tried enough potential solutions to justify my posting here. We're using samba 3.0.14a in Sarge in order to allow printing from Windows workstations (The authentication works with AD+Kerberos+Winbind) to a set of shared printers. Printing works perfectly but we would like to allow users to have control over the jobs

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
Hi all, After some config changes and reboots, I got the Samba server running properly for my client computers running Windows 7. My issue now is with Windows 10. I see threads relating to setting "max protocol = NT1", but this seems to break the Windows 7 clients (which are finally working again). Below is my smb.conf file (which works for Windows 7): [global] workgroup = JMC

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
OK, then here's the weird part. I have another server, hosting other files, lets my Windows 10 system connect. The main server won't though. They are both running Debian Jessie 8.3, and Samba 4.1.17-debian. Below is the /etc/samba/smb.conf file *that works with Windows 7 and 10*: [global] workgroup = SD57 netbios name = SAMBA server string = sss interfaces

LPRng and SAMBA
First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped me out so far resolving my samba problems! The latest has to do with LPRng and directory permissions. LPRng requires 0600 permissions on the spool directory, owner daemon group daemon. Whenever a user tries to print through SAMBA, they do not have write access to the spool directory, as teh job comes in user/group of the person who printed. Any

No print to Samba (Linux) printer from Win98
I'm stuck. I have Samba running on my Red Hat 7.2 Linux box. I can mount by remote dirctory on the Linux box via Samba. But I can't print to the Linux printer. I have a Linux printer installed and I can print to it using lpr. I have a printer configured in Samba and can see that from the Win98SE box. I've clicked on the Samba printer name and configured a Win98 printer.

Hi, I just installed 2 Win2K sp4 workstations on an otherwise working Samba 2.2.8a network and 2 of the 3 printers are showing "Access denied". What's up with that? The other computers that are working just fine are Win98, XP and Win2K NOT sp4. Here is part of the global section: printing = bsd load printers = yes disable spoolss = yes printcap name

3.3.10 <-> AD 2008 R2 very slow
Hi again, I changed from 3.4.5 to 3.3.10 after an AD upgrade to 2008R2 and prinitng is working mor ore less but it is incredibly sloooow. My server has no remarkable load so it is not due to hardware bottlenecks. Are there any ways to 'tune' 3.3.10 or any tricks to make it faster ? cheers ~christoph -- /* Christoph Beyer | Office: Building 2b / 23 *\ * DESY

samba 2.27 as print server
I'm running Samba 2.27 on RH8 system. I've got samba as the print spooler for Windows XP clients and using winbind as the user validation against my Win2K DC. Permissions on the spool directory are root root with the sticky bit on. Clients can delete their own jobs from the que, but the spool directory is not being expunged of print jobs and the last job constantly displays in the client
