BUG or FEATURE ?
Hi
I'am standing hopeless in the desert.
I spent a long time to run the move of your windows nt shit to windows 2000.
On microsofts side all worked fine. Microsoft wrote that I can switch to
native mode when I upgraded all my NT DC's.
..... So I did ......
Now my samba client can't join the win2000 domain.
I get following message:

antares:/etc # smbpasswd -j ISECH -r dc100
doing parameter log file = /var/log/samba_isech/%m.log
pm_process() returned Yes

SAMBA on Solaris combined with WinNT4 Domain
Hello
I have a problem with connectivity between Samba and NT.
When I do a net view on an NT box like: "net view \\TESTSERVER" the system
asks me for a username and password.
Why is Samba asking for a user and password when on both system the same
user and password exists.
Im using the option EnablePlainTextPassword on WinNT.
After typing the username and password (same as I used to

Really... ? i dont agree..
SOA specifies the DNS server providing authoritative information about a domain, so looks to me its direcly related to NameServers.
SOA contains the primary (NS) server of the domain.
Looks to me its related...
Below it nice explained how DNS works.
That a SOA not (always) related is

For me:
- SOA means where updates can be sent.
- SOA can be one or several.
- NS is a record to help non-authoritative name servers to find a valid
name server for the zone they receive a request and they don't know
anything about that zone.
- SOA is often declared as NS, I agree. I explained this is not mandatory.
There is no link between these two notions except they share a zone.

vesamenu.c32 + include + CLI woes
Hi all,
In June 2007 Jerry Nelson started a thread on this mailing list about a problem he was seeing. The thread was http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2007-June/008673.html
After several hours of searching through the list, I am still convinced that his problem was never solved and is very valid. I recently moved from the old syslinux config options model (all labels in 1 default config file)

faster way?
Hi,
Is there a faster way to do this? It takes forever, even on a
moderately sized dataset.
n <- dim(dsn)[1]
dsn2 <- dsn[order(-dsn$xhat),]
dsn2[1, "cumx"] <- dsn2[1, "xhat"]
for (i in 2:n) {
dsn2[i, "cumx"] <- dsn2[i - 1, "cumx"] + dsn2[i, "xhat"]
}

working with summarized data
The data sets I am working with all have a weight variable--e.g.,
each row doesn't mean 1 observation.
With that in mind, nearly all of the graphs and summary statistics
are incorrect for my data, because they don't take into account the
weight.
****
For example "median" is incorrect, as the quantiles aren't calculated
with weights:
sum( weights[X < median(X)] )

vfs module Samba 3.5.1
We installed the Samba 3.5.1 rpms for OpenSuSE 10.2 from
ftp.sernet.de. The VFS modules seem to be broken. Is this an error
in the packaging or do I need to be looking else where. A snippet
from the log file follows:

dell sc420 connect to LCD 32" at 1366x768
Hi,
I am attempting to connect my dell SC420 to a 32" LCD at 1366x768.
I have attached my currect config file and currect X start log.
How do I massage the xorf file to run at the native resolution of the LCD?
It currently runs but is in a virtual mode. The screen scrolls.
Any help is appreciated. I am using Centos 4.1.

SOA means "this DNS se'rver can modify the zone".
Using Bind-DLZ all DNS servers can modify the AD zones, they all reply "I
am the SOA" when you ask them about SOA for AD zones.
Using Internal DNS I expect all DNS servers can modify the AD zones also
(that's internal stuff) but even if they can modify the AD zone locally
that's is not the process chosen by Samba

Hello,
Not sure when it stopped working as I don't use it often. Maybe since the
upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3. Can't say for sure as it's been a while since
tried to start X.
The errors I receive when startin X are:

(EE) I810(0): cannot continue
(EE) I810(0): VBE initialization failed
(EE) Screen(s) found but none have a usable configuration

Bug#586670: xen-hypervisor-3.4-i386: xserver does not work on i386 system in dom0, while works on amd64 system
Package: xen-hypervisor-3.4-i386
Version: 3.4.3-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
I tried on 2 machines with ati's and intel's video card, both xservers fail to work.
xserver works well with linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-686(with out xen.gz) and linux-image-2.6.32-5-686.
I also tried xen-hypervisor-4.0-i386, the problem is still there.
Free fill to ask for more info.
