ocfs seek-performance
hi list, i have a little problem with 2-node RAC using OCFS. the application running on this cluster does heavily index-based accesses. the data volumes are SAN volumes connected by fibrechannel. the throughput does not exceed 10mb/s, average is 7-8 mb/s. i've used 'iostat -x' and got rkB/s=8000 while %util=100% (device was saturated) from kernel's POV. i did some

src/main/arithmetic.c on OpenBSD (PR#863)
First, let me say how glad I am to discover R! As a former user of S at the University of Toronto and, briefly S-Plus from StatSci (I had a binary version of that on Slolaris for a while), I was really glad to find the "R" project. This is perhaps not your bug, but I did have one minor glitch in compiling R. OpenBSD 2.8's math.h does not export the "struct exception"

Sidebar to Systemtap and Dtrace Comparison
My leaky memory says we moved entry-point into some form of debug record in the standard libraries, circa Solaris 8/9. Before that, my group maintained text files that listed all the entry-points and their parameters for libraries like libc.so, so that we could print out parameter values in apptrace(8). There''s a (small) chance the records are complete enough that dtrace could use the

dovecot and nfs readdir vs readdirplus operations
Hello, We are having performance problems trying to migrate our pop/imap servers to a new version. Our old servers are 4 debian lenny with 5GB of RAM running of XenServer VMs with kernel 2.6.32-4-amd64 and dovecot 1.1.16. New servers are 4 ubuntu 12.04 with dovecot 2.1.5 running on vmware vm with 6 cores and 16GB of RAM and kernel 3.2.0-24-generic. On both server we are using nfs 3 with

libvorbis-1.0 patch for Solaris 5.8 buggy libc qsort.
Solaris 5.8 has a quirky qsort that requires the ability to recognize elements as equal. here is a patch I have created to deal w/ this problem. I apologize if the patch is in the wrong format and would love to be corrected if wrong. I used the following to create the patch libvorbis-1.0> diff -u lib/psy.c lib/psy_new.c > libv.patch <p><p><p><p> --------------

CentOS 5.8, xen kernel, and nfs4
G'day, I have a workstation running CentOS 5.8 with kernel 2.6.18-308.el5. This workstation needs to mount a NFS4 directory on a server (mysvr in the example below). If the computer is running the XEN kernel (uname -a reports ...2.6.18-308.el5xen), my NFS4 share is mounted but "ls" reports an error. Xen kernel: uname -a ...2.6.18-308.el5xen mount | grep mysvr

migrating from Centos 5.8 -> 6.3 LDAP Client Config
Hi, I run a Centos 5.8 samba server which uses a separate LDAP centos 6.3 server for user and group authentication. Now we migrate to a new centos 6.3 samba server and I'd like to know how do 'ldapify' that new server the best way. I'm a bit confused if I can use the same nss setup like on the current old server or how and what to configure to go with SSSD? May be someone can
