Linux Kernel 2.4.3 GCC 2.95.2 GLIBC 2.1.3 Trying to compile the new 2.2.0 Samba release. Is there a trick to getting "./configure --enable-shared" to work. It says my libtool doesn't support shared libraries ( but it does for all other packages I build ) Is there a recommended GCC and GLIBC version for this release. Also.. docs/textdocs/UNIX_INSTALL.txt seems to be

how to stop WfWG local browse master announcements?
this isn't strictly a samba question, but it is related in that i'm trying to a samba server as my domain master browser and multiple samba servers as local master browsers for a workgroup across multiple subnets. everything seems to be working wonderfully except for one WfWG host which does not show up in the browse list as expected. i notice that this host is announcing itself as a

Samba vs Microsoft Logon Protocols
Hello, I am trying to figure out how the different values for "max protocol" and "min protocol" (as seen in the smb.conf man page under the "max protocol" section) correlate to the Microsoft jargon for the different logon protocols. Here is what I've determined. Could some please verify this for me? Samba Microsoft CORE

Exec file incompatible with hardware
Sorry if this is going to be one of those 'idiot' questions, but I don't use Samba. It has always been on our server, chugging along beautifully so no on ever had to touch it... Well, we consolidated servers and moved everything to another server with HP-UX 10.20 (the previous server had the same HPUX version so I thought I was in the clear), the samba version is samba-1.9.18p2. Something that I can take as an example to work from. It took us quite a few emails to get to what your setup actually looks like. So the initial ideas didn't work. Iterating over things is often necessary. Without

cannot access samba from WfWg running trumpet winsock
Hi all! Here is my problem: I have installed RedHat Linux version 6.0 on a computer and I want to share its resources via samba. Unfortunately, my computer - which is running WfWg 3.11 for Eastern Europe and the trumpet winsock TCP/IP stack is not able to see the samba server. Other computers, running Win95, Linux and WfWg with M$ TCP/IP stack perform OK. I have tried the following combinations:

The OP seems to be still confused. SAM Broadcaster supports sending streams directly to Icecast servers, so Icecast does not need to be put in Shoutcast compatibility mode. He doesn't need to use different port numbers, as mentioned a few times. The mount points do not need to be defined in the configuration file unless you want different passwords or other unique settings per stream, as

Hi, I am struggling with starting smbd and nmbd as daemon under RH7.0. I made a file just like the example in the doc: #!/bin/sh /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D which I called "startsmb". Then I changed added the execution permission and ran it, but it doesn't run as a daemon. I also tried running both commands from the command line, but it

samba and win98 grief
I noticed a few weeks ago that I was no longer able to access shares on a win98 box called cs198787-a. This used to work but it's now broken and I have no idea why???? I'm going nuts trying to fix this. I've even gone out and bought the book "Using Samba" .... great book btw. The samba server is running on a SuSE linux system and passes all the tests in the

netlogon error?
Greetings all, I'm running a RedHat 5.0 (kernel 2.0.32) Linux box with samba 1.9.18p7 and I'm having a problem with my netlogon share.
