Sharing printers when "security = user"
Sorry. I forgot to mention the actual problem. When I try to share a printer from a workstation it wants a list of users that will be able to access it. And when I try to get the list it says to try later. How do I get this list of users??? Hello! I'va tried to go through the archives to see if someone else has had this problem (as I bet many have, hopefully there is an easy answer). 3 of

Samba with revalidate, posibile bug!
Hello Samba experts, I have a simple problem: i tried to use according to ch06_03.html manual page, directive revalidate in smb.conf config file. In smb.conf, i use directive security = share, but for a particular share (grant aces with user and pass) i want to use revalidate = yes option. The problem is that this feature is not working! 1. i used testparm to check the smb.conf file, and it

Samba3+samba-vscan+clamav = A big headache.
I just installed samba3+samba-vscan via ports on a FreeBSD 4.x system. Samba is running just fine and thanks to the help of webmin it was easily configured. Today I finally was able to get windows shares to be mounted on my FreeBSD server. So naturally I want to run av scans on it. I set it up to mount the entire C drive and to scan it using clamav which is also installed from ports. I recompiled

Credentials Error
Hi folks. I've set up several shares on our Unix host 'Geddon' which have all been working fine. The shares have all had the same valid user who I set-up using smbpasswd. I then set-up a second user (devsrc) in smbpasswd and made the new user the sole valid user of one of the shares (data1). Whenever I try to access this share the following Windows NT error occurs. I was wondering

Delay opening Word, Excel files
Hello, I am running samba 2.2.7a on Red Hat 9. The clients are running Win2k with SP3 and Office XP with SP2. The Samba server authenticates with a WinNT 4 domain controller. When the users open a Word or Excel document there is a 30sec delay before the file opens. From info gleaned from searches on this subject I have tried turning oplocks off altogether, which resulted in Word and Excel

[PATCH 2/3] drm/nouveau: slowpath for pushbuf ioctl
We can't copy_*_user while holding reservations, that will (soon even for nouveau) lead to deadlocks. And it breaks the cross-driver contract around dma_resv. Fix this by adding a slowpath for when we need relocations, and by pushing the writeback of the new presumed offsets to the very end. Aside from "it compiles" entirely untested unfortunately. limiting authentication duration
Question 1: Is there a way to keep an authentication to a Samba share from lasting indefinitely? I am implementing a Linux file server for a network of machines all running Windows 98 SE. (Redhat 9, Samba 2.2.7a, share-level security.) Once a user provides a valid password and connects to a Samba share, Samba allows that client machine to access that share indefinitely. In our office each

question about Samba share in HTTP root dir [repost]
Hiya, i have had a HTTP directory tree shared out via SMB on my HTTP development server for a few years with no trouble. recently however various files have started becoming read-only as far as my Win2k machine is concerned. upon ssh-ing into the tree in question i find all the permissions are fairly open and i cannot see why i should have any problem at all. i was wondering if this might have

Windoze don't forget username/password (revalidate=yes why not working?)
Hy again! OS: Debian Woody 3.0, kernel 2.4.20-grsecurity Samba: 2.2.8a status: samba up, and running Problem: If I use a usrname/password on client machines, (win98 and winxp/2k) I could not log on as an other user to the machine, only if I logout, or reboot the client. I1ve read in O'reilly's samba book, that there is an option revalidate. But testparm says, it is unknown. How can I
