Login script
Is there a file I can place in the netlogin directory (or anywhere else for that matter) that will represnet a logon script? I want to have my workstations auto-mount particular shares on the samba server, without the user having to make the mount. This way when I add new users, the shares are automatically present. If there is a script I can place somwehre, please tell me what it's name is

Index vectors get overwriten ?!
Hello, For some analysis of a mesh structure I need to prepare several vectors of indexes of different length. This is done by the following code sequence (including diagnostic output): #-------------------------------------------------- MT_ind <- which(V1.frame[,2] %in% mm[,1]) print("M_ind") str(M_ind) Q1_ind <- which(V1.frame[,2] %in% mq1) print("Q1_ind")

Feature request: External deletion command
Hi everyone, it would be nice if rsync could call an external command to delete files. Than one could call a secure deletion tool like "wipe", which overwrites files a few times before deleting them. Right now Im wiping personal data which I dont need anymore, but it doesnt help much since they can easily be recovered from my backup made with rsync. Bye, Mario -- Der GMX

Shares not visible from Win2k
Hi, Please forgive such a simple question. I have installed Samba using SWAT to configure it. The shares user are visible on the box hosting the Samba server using "smbclient -L hostname" and I can connect to the share using "smbclient //edev/mlong -U sharename" When browsing network neighborhood on a Win2K machine the Server is visible but the shares are not available.

[PATCH 0/2] ocfs2: two bug fixes about xattr and inline-data
Mark and Joel, I found two serious bugs about xattr and inline-data. the first bug: in ocfs2_mknod(), we check and found the ACL or security xattr entry could be set into inode in ocfs2_calc_xattr_init(), then don't reserve block for them. But in ocfs2_mknod_locked(), if we found ocfs2 support inline-data, then set id_count with the max_inline_data. After that, we set acl/security xattr

Build failure on powerpc64
Do note that 3.6-patched will only be live for a day or two as we branch for 4.0.0 on Friday. Anything committed there is unlikely to make it into an official release (in principle, the 3.6 branch can be revived but it would take a very strong incentive to do so.) If you want an R-3.6.3-for-ppc, I think a vendor patch is the way. AFAIR (it's been more than a decade since I looked at this

CentOS6: Building a modified kernel rpm
Dear Akemi, I'm really ashamed, in "https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source" I've missed the last 5 lines following the CentOS5 section. All is now clear for me on the process to follow to build a new kernel from source rpm and the CONFIG_NUMA_EMU option is active. I've set it with make menuconfig to avoid some additional mistakes in the config file.

CentOS6: Building a modified kernel rpm
I'm very confused on the right step to use to setup a modified kernel in centOS6. As a simple user, I've downloaded the latests sources (I'm runing an old kernel version) : rpm -i http://vault.centos.org/6.7/updates/Source/SPackages/kernel-2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.src.rpm in the spec file ~/rpmbuild/SPECS/kernel.spec I've set: %define buildid .numa Now I want to set

Delays opening Excel/Word files off samba shares.
At my work, I've been pushing linux as a server solution for quite some time. They've decided to give it a go, and the main company file server is now a piii 933 with 512Mb RAM, a promise 6 channel RAID5 controller (IDE), and 6 x 80Gb drives. It's running RedHat 7.1 (with the usual kernel updates to 2.4.10), with samba 2.2.1a and the latest Reiser FS... Now at the moment, we

gconf-settings for compiz get overwritten
Hi! I'm having a problem with compiz on a Centos5-machine (I know compiz is only "Beta", but it looks soooo cool). When I use the gconf-editor to edit settings of the plugins (for instance /apps/compiz/plugins/scale/allscreens/options/initiate_edge) they work as expected, they get written to the correct file in ~/.gconf, but the next time I log in the are reset to the default value

performance issue with overwritten files
Hi Guys, I have experienced a recent performance issue with an ext2 filesystem. Essentially I have had several files that get overwritten on average once per day. This has been happening for about a hear when the program accessing and reading those files started from several milliseconds to 15-20 seconds to open and read the file. Moving the directory to a new name and copying the contents

Recover files from overwritten zpool?
To make a long story short, after a Solaris reinstall I needed to access a disk from the previous install. I realize now I should have done a zpool import, but instead I recreated the pool, thinking this would bring my file system back. I destroyed the new pool, but other than that I have done nothing to overwrite data. Is it possible to recover the data from the old pool? --Stig

/etc/init.d/ overwritten
Hello, Upon trying to install 3.0.2, after executing install.sh, all of the system''s /etc/init.d/* scripts are gone. Only /etc/init.d/xend and /etc/init.d/xendomains remain.
