Some doubts
Hi, I'm trying to setup samba server on FreeBSD-4.7-STABLE, with samba version 2.2.7a. It runs so good (better than our snap server :). I need to know if should be possible, that users can modify, save, and all other possible operations on files except delete it. My users config are, more or less: All users have their uid All users are in same gid Some project admins (they are on

winbind: group name doesn't map to a SID, but gid does
I'm using winbind v3.0.22 on Debian Linux as a source for nss info. I have a group that was once known by winbind, but is no more: ------ beging shell except ------ # ls -ld ./ drwxrws--- 10 root $MND000-TT227MV5K24I 4096 2006-05-10 15:41 ./ # ------ end shell except ------ It must have been known, as I was the one who chgrp'ed the dir originally. I know what the group name is

how to make 'winbind nss info = sfu' work in v >= 3.0.26a
There is an instance of Ms.Active Directory that has had the 'Services For Unix' applied. I use winbind v3.0.24 to get user/group info from that Ms.Active directory instance like so: -------- begin smb.conf snippet: ------------ security = ADS realm = mydomain.com workgroup = MYDOMAIN winbind enum groups = yes winbind enum users = yes winbind nested groups = yes winbind nss info = sfu

win2k domain-less client failing to authenticate when securit y=domain
Hi Jonathan, Yep, samba sends the domain name as well as the username to the domain controller, and what I think happens is the NT controller sees that the domainname passed is NOT his domain, checks his list of trusted domains, doesn't find it, and says sayonara buddy... I am assuming that 'SATURN' is the netbios name of the win2k client machine? I'm not real clear on how this

Various extensions ring once and go to voicemail
We have an old Asterisk 1.8.7.0 system desperately need to keep alive for another 6 months or so. We had all kinds of hardware problems, so we virtualized it. Now, random extensions ring once and go straight to voicemail. I went to one of the affected extensions and changed the ring time from the default (20) to 26. Still one ring. I changed it to 30. Now I get two rings. Other extensions ring

Asterisk 1.8.7.0 connectivity to Avaya SM
Hello all, I hope someone can help me with this old Asterisk version. I have to run this version because of a custom IVR written on it. Porting it would take much too long and we'd have to hire a consultant because of all the hooks it has into Oracle databases and real-time information. We have a brand-new Avaya phone system in place and we will be cutting over to it in late March 2019.

winbind nss info = sfu is not so much working
with samba 3.0.22, I'm trying to integrate a linux box with Microsoft AD by using winbind for authentication as well as for the source of nss info. When winbind is configured to use its own local id maps, everything works fine. But when i configure winbind to use 'ad' as the source of nss info, authentication fails, 'getent' commands return no results, and 'wbinfo -r

Converting from density to cumulative distribution
Hello I'm trying to do the following vector operation: given vector x = c(x1,x2,x3,x4...xn), produce vector y = c(x1,x1+x2,x1+x2+x3,...x1+...+xn). E.g., from x = c(1,3,2,2,5), produce y = c(1,4,6,8,13). The underlying problem is finding the cumulative distribution function given the empirical density distribution function. I have done some research on this but the only relevant

Problems with NT logons, Samba as PDC
Hi! We're using Samba as PDC, and recently had a strange crash on the system (none of the NT-machines authenticated anymore). I re-created the user database and passwords on the server (TurboLinux 2.2.14-5, with Samba 2.0.6 & 2.1alpha for auth.) and also re-newed the profiles making 'em local on the NT-workstations. Sometimes when the NT-PC gets rebooted, I can't authenticate it

winbind can see some groups but not others
Hello, I followed the steps at http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3487081 for adding a v3.0.21a samba and winbindd server to a MsAD domain and configuring nsswitch.conf to find passwd and group info from winbind. This seems to have worked out fine, except that I can't 'see' or 'recognize' certain groups via getent or via wbinfo -g. E.g. I can see the

Various extensions ring once and go to voicemail
Duncan: You may have it right-I took one phone and set the ring time to 60 seconds. I now get about 4 rings on that one. I wonder how I can change the timing source. Thomas M. Various extensions ring once and go to voicemail - Thomas Peters
Carlos and Stefan (and other who have helped): I DON'T HAVE the res_timing_timerfd.so file. Can I build it? Recompiling Asterisk is unrealistic in my position but I wonder if I can build the one module. Here's what I do have: apbx:~ $ locate *res_timing_timerfd* /usr/src/asterisk-1.8.23.1/res/.res_timing_timerfd.makeopts /usr/src/asterisk-1.8.23.1/res/.res_timing_timerfd.moduleinfo
