It is possible to see the print queue and via NT4's printer window. Correct? And remove the jobs too, right? But not for me. cups-1.0.5, samba-2.07 on linux-2.2.14 queues show ok using lpq printing from nt works ok using samba. in smb.conf I have: printing = cups print command = lpr -P%p -s %s; rm %s lpq command = /usr/local/bin/lpq -P %p lprm command = /usr/local/bin/lprm -P %p %j The

Problems with printing=plp
Hello, i've some problems with the plp printer spooler on linux: I changed from bsd printing to plp printing. Previously (with bsd style printing) i was able to browse and delete active printjobs, stop and activate printers from within the win9x/winnt boxes. After changing to plp this is no longer possible. The printjobs themself are still printed. Some output in the log.smb (with debug

problem with samba on irix 6.5
I have a problem with samba 2.05a on my irix-6.5 box. Now I know this must be a user problem because I have run samba on this machine before. Samba compiles and runs fine and I have tried the precompiled version too. I have /tmp shared out as [tmp] and get the following messages in log.smb when I try to connect to it using smbclient from the localhost smbd version 2.0.5a started. Copyright

PLEASE help with printing problem
I can't seem to find an answer or a workaround, and I've received stoney silence on this one. There aren't any answers in the archives (well, I didn't find any in the hours on several days I spent, anyhow). I'm convinced that I can't be the *only* one with this problem, nor am I convinced that there is absolutely no one who can help. Please feel free to jump in with

workgroup name, small nmdb bug in 2.0.6
Im running 2.0.6 on solaris 7 on an ultra sparc and have discovered the following strange behavior: Samba was configured with --prefix=/usr/local/daemon/samba with this directory being a link. /usr/local/daemon/samba -> /localhost/daemon/samba-2.0.6 smbd and nmbd are looking for smb.conf in /usr/local/daemon/samba/lib and this is where the file is. Changes to smb.conf are noticed and acted

Im using samba 2.07 from source on a digital unix 4.0e machine. Users are connecting to their unix home directories fine. There are also samba print shares. Im using cups-1.0.5 for the print server but this problem looks like it's part of samba. The authenication is done from a NT server. W9x print driver download problems with Samba 2.2.5 and CUPS 1.1.15
Greetings, Similar to the other CUPS thread, but not the same. Samba 2.2.5 built on a Sparc Solaris 9 box with Cups 1.1.5. I've set up Samba to print with Cups as outlined in the docs. I am able to download the generic Adobe print driver to my Windows 2000 clients but the Windows 98 clients are asking for a local driver to be installed. Looking at verbose output from cupsaddsmb,

I'm having a problem when a user wants to print using a win98 client, the machine hangs up and i get a process that consumes nearly 90% of CPU time owned by the user who sends the job. I configuredd the smb.conf log level in 5 and i get this error: [2003/12/18 14:43:02, 3] smbd/lanman.c:api_reply(3542) Doing DosPrintQGetInfo [2003/12/18 14:43:02, 3]

WIN40 printer driver on Solaris not being installed?
I am having problems with the driver installation for WIN40 (9x machines) in Samba 2.2.5 / Samba 2.2.6pre2 on a Solaris 8 machine. I build binary packages for both debian and solaris environments. For debian 2.2.5, I use the 2.2.5 source with the printing patch provided by Jerry Carter. I use the packaging/Debian/debian systems to build and package the source. For Solaris I use the

3.0.10 with printing patch, NULL devmode, failing to fetch tdb and buffer overflow
Hi Jerry, hi @all, some users with 3.0.10 with printing patch have problems with old printjobs in her status monitor in windows. Loglevel 10 shows two problems: 1. The devmode for this printer was not set properly (I know, thiswill cause problems). log.smbd: [2005/01/05 14:02:09, 8] rpc_parse/parse_spoolss.c:smb_io_reldevmode(2407) boing, the devmode was NULL 2. A buffer overflow is logged.

more on ailing printer system
I cranked the debug level to 10. Below is a transcript from the client log file of a client trying to open a Properties dialog for the HP 4500 printer. I am puzzled as to why Samba would be looking for a user with the name of a printer. Is this normal behavior? Anyway, about a minute after the last log entry below, the client showed a dialog "Printer properties cannot be

I'm trying to get the Unix Password Sync option to work on my server. I'm running RH 6.0, with MD5 and shadowed passwords enabled, and Samba 2.0.5a (the RPM version). When I try to change passwords using
