strange problem
Hello.
I have a problem that I hope you can help me with.
I have 95,98 and NT machines and a Linux box with samba 2.2.5 (or what ever is
shipped with redhat) that shares a printer to the windows machines.
The problem is now:
-the NT machines finds the printer!
-the 98 machine finds something, but rejects all passwords (it runs encryot.
passwd)
-the 95 does not find anything at all. (runs encrypt

Samba & subnets
Hi
We have two subnets with routing tables correctly set up so they can both
ping to our Sun Solaris Box.
193.71.221
191.9.211
The Sun Solaris box lives on 193.71.221.1 and all PCs on that subnet can map
to the Sun box without any problems. All PCs on the 191.9.211 cannot
connect to the samba drives giving the error "Network not Found". Any help
would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry I don't think my first trial worked
I am just starting to use samba, and I keep running into the same
problem time and again. I have installed SAMBA 2.0.2 correctly and have
(i think) a correct smb.conf file. Now when I try to log on to one of my

Interpreting the Results of GLM
Hi, I'm wondering if you can help me, this is a really simple query but I
keep getting confused. I have run a GLM to see how boldness varies over
time following a particular treatment. The results are as follows...

that contain all of the desktop customizations. Under Win2k,
when a person logs in on that computer, there is only an empty

There must just be some small thing I am overlooking, and I couldn't
find it in the documentation.
Here is the smb.conf file that

Echo and crackle
We are running asterisk with a single POTS line for local calls and a
voip line for long distance. Whenever we receive a call on the POTS
line it is more than likely, but not always, going to have significant
distracting echo. In addition to that there is occasional heavy crackle
or static. I have tried to follow the guidelines at :

Problem with Dutch PSTN-line on X100P
Yo all,
I have a problem with a Dutch (KPN) PSTN-line, connected to an X100P.
The call wil sound OK at first, but after 10-20 minutes, the audio will
start to crackle. Soon after that, this crackle turns into a continuous
noise and the parties won't be able to hear eachother anymore. It also
sometimes happens that the party on the TDM400P hears a very loud,
short-delay echo of themselves,

method from string?
I am sure this is doable but I can''t find a specific example and my
brain is frazzled.
Basically, I am doing a whole load of in-place editing and need
methods to support the updates.
Here is what I am doing now:

faq.blog_website = params[:value]
faq.save!
@faq = faq

Faint background noise/crackle on FXS port on TDM400P
Hi, I have had this issues for ages but have ignored it, but my handsets
get faint background crackle on the FXS port. When I connect the handset
directly into my PSTN, it goes away complete, so I am generating this from
somewhere in my asterisk box. I get it immediately when the phone goes
off-hook and it stays through the dialing and call progress.
I can't think of any other devices

Crackly Prompts but Voice OK
Server A has 4 PRIs coming into it, and provides a SIP connection to
Server B. When we call into server B via a DID from one of Server A's
PRIs, we get crackly sound on recorded playback only (prompts, IVR,
voicemail instructions, etc.), but not on actual live voices once you're
talking.
Server A provides this same service to other servers and problem does
not appear in those cases.

location of check.Renviron on Windows
Doing package development on a Windows 7 machine, and I want to tell R
check not to worry about the "suggested" packages.
I realize this can be done using the ~/.R/check.Renviron file, but
what directory corresponds to "~"? Is that supposed to be the user
directory? Or is it some other directory?
I have this _R_CHECK_FORCE_SUGGESTS_=false (have also tried FALSE) in

Cairo package failure to load backend
Hi R friends,
I've been attempting to create plots with multiple alpha values using
Cairo to save them on a windows (32b XP) platform as it doesn't support
more than 3 alpha values. This worked well until I wanted a postscript
file (unsupported) and as a attempted work around I installed RGtk2. So
far so good, however now when I try to use a

TDM2400 Hardware Echo Cancel
Good Day List,
I'm having some issues with echo cancel on my Asterisk box, and have
done
extensive reading and have gained some useful pointers from this list
but have a couple of hopefully fairly simple questions.
The Asterisk box is connected via 20 FXO ports on a TDM2400 with the
Hardware echo cancel module. Echo cancel almost works, but the users

lattice package: line end style
First, apologies for no example data but I don't think it's needed in
this case,
Q: Can (and if so how ) the line end style be changed for 'cloud' plots?
I've tried par(lend=2), trellis.par.set(add.line = list(lend=2)) and
much googling but to no avail
Thanks in advance
Dan
P.S. the reason for this is that the round end looks bad at lwd=3 or

Calculating a table of symbol frequencies
Hello all:
I have a protein sequence alignment in a data frame (align1, 72 x 236),
where each row is a protein and each column a site in the alignment. AA is
vector of amino acid symbols plus "-" (gap). I can calculate amino acid
frequencies at each site by:
>align1.F <- matrix(0,nrow=22,ncol=236,dimnames=list(AA,seq(1:236)))
>for(i in 1:236)
