A make problem with Samba 2.2.4
Hi,
I've downloaded Samba 2.2.4 today and attempted to install it on our Compaq
AlphaServers running Compaq Tru64 v5.1A. It configures OK, but "make"
produces a few serious looking warnings. I've captured both "./configure"
and "make" to the attached text file.
Examples:

Samba can not link to ldap
Samba can not retrieve password information for users.
I have got stuck with the problem outlined below. I have already spent 2
weeks trying to find information on the www and various mailing lists,
without success.
I would be happy if someone has an idea what I have to fix.
I do not particularly need ldap, so if anybody can tell me how to seperate Samba from ldap it

Smbclient Connection to Samba server failed
I played with the smb.config file long enough to get both the smbd and nmbd daemons to run. Then ran TESTPARM against the correct smb, conf file without issue. Finally I tried the following command:
[root@cofr3 /]# smbclient -U illingsk -L MySQL
added interface ip=172.17.60.6 bcast=172.17.63.255 nmask=255.255.248.0
wins_srv_died(): WINS server 172.16.0.121 appears to be down.

Samba 2.0.0 Beta5 released.
The Samba Team is pleased to announce Samba 2.0.0 Beta5
This is the fifth of (hopefully) a short series of Beta
releases of the 2.0.0 code and incorporates bug fixes and
changes from feedback gained from the earlier betas.
Show-stopper bugs notwithstanding, this is expected to be
the last beta release before the official ship of the
stable Samba 2.0.0 release, so it is very important for

Access 97 and Samba 2.2.6
Set {
locking = Yes

I've had problems with Access and other MS Office files when oplocks are
enabled, even on kernels that support them.

Samba AD master browser
Installed: Samba 4.1.13, running as AD
>From time to time, users get disconnected from their shares. At that
moment, windows explorer is not responding, freezing up the whole PC.
I suspect this issue is caused by samba4 not being the master browser.
Running smbclient -L on the AD server returns nothing for the master
browser:

samba loses to be the master browser
Hi all
I have an Opensuse 11.1 64 bit acting as a PDC with all this pachages:
samba-3.4.5-3.1
bind-9.5.0P2-18.1

It was working great for the first 6 months as a logon and file server for around 40 windows computers. But lately from time to time the samba server loses to be the master browser, and the only way to solve this problem is rebooting de entire

RPC error on Windows NT4.0 clients
Hi, I'd appreciate any help. I'm getting this odd error when I add in
a new samba share to the existing ones on a machine. The error seems
to affect some of my NT clients, yielding a message "A remote procedure
call (RPC) protocol error occurred." This does not happen to all my NT
clients, nor does it seem to affect smbclient on my other samba server.
The samba server is
