Problems to connect to a Samba Server from W98
Hello, I have a problem because when I try to use the smbclient -L linux, the server responds: Got a positive name query response from 127.0.0.1 (192.168.0.1) session request to *SMBSERVER failed and I can connect to another W98 machine from the linux/samba server, but the inverse isn't true. Why this? Note: I use the current smb.conf in the past(RH 6.0) and works fine, but now(RH6.1)

Browsing from NT 4.0
Hi James, One of the things that NT does different from WIN9x is that it attempts to 'browse' using a null session. This typically means that SAMBA is going to try to make the attachement for the 'null' username as SAMBA's guest account (by default 'nobody'). On a lot of HP systems the 'nobody' /etc/passwd entry is set as uid -2 and gid -2. These uid/gid

problems after migrating NT domain to AD (samba 4.7.x)
Dear List, My domain +/- works, so I try to fix rest services based on domain NT/AD.... I use WiFi authorization with PEAP/MSCHAPv2 + freeradius (before migration it works). And after migration autorization does not work. Freeradius server is on samba domain member. So i check domain connectivity: [root at see-you-later samba]# net ads testjoin Join is OK [root at see-you-later samba]#

AW: RH 6.1 samba 2.0.7pre3 BUG!
samba does the SMB(!) authentication against machine "a" but you MUST have equal users on ALL machines. How else should samba create files on the unix file system if there is no UNIX user to deal with? It is not a problem of samba, it's a "problem" of unix. The only trick to do this would be to create a dummy unix user and do a "force user" to this dummy on every

ssh -R option
Dear list, I'm relatively new to using ssh. I'm trying to use the -R option to set up a forwarded port between two machines. Specifically I'd like to be able to ssh to machineB from machineA and then have a port on machineB that I can connect to machineA with. If my understanding is correct I'd need a command like: machineA> ssh -R 10000:machineA:23 machineB This should

Configuration of hosts
I'm probably doing something I'm not supposed to even try, but I'm trying for "proof of concept" before physically setting up a distant network because of logistical issues. Anyway, I have tincd running as a service on two windows machines on the same lan. I'm trying to establish a connection between those two computers on the vpn ip's (10.20.30.1 and 10.20.40.1).
