"smbmount" and Linux kernel-2.0.37
Hello,
I tried to compile Samba-2.0.5b with smbmount after setting the
configure-option "--with-smbmount". On systems (SuSE 5.0 and
SuSE 5.3) running Linux kernel 2.0.35 and 2.0.37 I didn't have
success:

building on Red Hat 5.2
Hi,
I'm trying to build samba 2.0.5a on Red Hat 5.2. It originally came with
1.9something, which seemed to have some bugs accessing large mounted
directories. I downloaded Red Hat's updates package, but unfortunately it
only comes with smbclient and smbd, and what I need is smbmount and
smbumount. My binaries from my more recent systems (RH6 and OL2.2) won't
run due to

[patch] smbmount fixes for samba-2.0.7, testers wanted!
Hello all
This patch tries to remove a few bugs from smbmount. It would be nice to
get some testing+feedback on this from others using smbmount and possibly
get these things fixed for the next release of samba.
It does the following:
* Change lib/debug.c to allow changing your mind on being interactive.
A second call to setup_logging should now replace the effects of a
previous call. (hmm,

smbmount on redhat 9
I use samba in a very limited application to mount smb shares using smbmount. I have a simple script I use that mounts several shares to a variety of mount points as a specific user on my system. The script passes username, password, share, mount point, domain information to each call to smbmount. This script worked perfectly under redhat 8.0 but since upgrading to redhat 9 I have had some

Samba 2.0.6pre1 released
I've just released a snapshot of 2.0.6 in the alpha directory on
samba.org. This is intended for testing to make sure some of the
recent changes work well on a wider range of sites. I have also built
a RedHat Linux 6.X RPM and put it in the same dircetory.
If you are not running a mission critical site then we would
appreciate feedback on this snapshot.

a bug in smbmount
Hello All!
There was a problem: then the samba server goes down, the smbfs
tries to reconnect only once. Then the server returns online
the smbfs dont restore connection and say "I/O error"
without keeping trying to reconnect.
I found that there is no problem in smbfs kernel module.
Each time it got CONN_INVALID, it send SIGUSR1 to smbmount daemon,
which has to restore connection.

Starting isolinux from another isolinux
Hi,
some time ago I asked if it is possible to boot one isolinux from
another one. The reason: I tried to integrate a SuSE Live DVD on a
multiboot DVD, but SuSE uses a modified version of isolinux.
I tried the following:
1. I copied the isolinux stuff from the SuSE DVD to /boot/suselive.
2. I edited isolinux.bin and substituted "/boot/isolinux" by "/boot/
suselinux"
3. I

Linux SMB Mount utils patch
Hi,
I'm sure that you are all aware that the mount utilities that ship
with samba are designed to compile and run only with Linux 2.1 series
development kernels.
I'll _try_ keep this short and sweet while doing my best to
explain what I have done, since I have a tendancy to ramble on. I
have two boxes, one Linux with libc5, and another with Linux and Glibc2
(aka libc6). The Samba

Still trying to backup 66 GB from LINUX to W2K ***
Hi Everyone.
I'm still having that problem that my samba cannot backup more
than 2 GB onto a Windows share (on a Win2K box) (see messages
earlier in this forum - I have to backup a 66 GB file out of database).
Setting loglevel of SAMBA to "2" I received the following (for the
time running the backup up to the broken connection):

PXElinux & memdisk
I am trying to acheve pxe booting of a image of barts boot disk (www.nu2.nu).
I have managed to get LTSP booting via pxelinux, so I know my dhcp/tftp servers are ok.
However when I try to boot memdisk with either a stock suselinux boot image file (taken from
SuSE 9.1) or my dos disk (created by dd if=/dev/fd0 of=/imagefile)
I get output like

Root Access rights after smbmount
Hello,
I am using samba 1.9.18p10 in conjunction with a 2.0.36 kernel (SuSE-Linux
distribution 6.0). After I mount an NT share with smbmount in the following
way...
smbmount //server/share /home/test -U User -P password -D Domain -u 0 -g 200 -f
664 -d 775
... the whole share gets mounted with absolutely no rights (0000). The "ls -l
/home" shows this:

Problem with DFS mounting (works OK in smbclient) [samba-3.0.14a-2.1.fc4.kde]
I am having problems mounting a DFS share, even though it works in smbclient
fine.
After mounting, the mount point (in ls) has question marks for everything, and
when ls'ing I just get permission denied.
Turning up debug and verbose don't seem to help. Any ideas ?

Unable to mount SMB drive
I have a Windows Server 2003 system I'm trying to back up to a Linux host.
when I access the share with smbclient, I can "see" the files (`ls` returns a

But, when I try to actually mount the drive, I get "permission denied" errors
trying to access the drive. (EG: using `df`) Running the following
