operator overload on views
In my User auth scheme I have a userlevel. I''ve overloaded the User
class operators like this:
def >(item)
if item.class == "User"
self.userlevel > item.userlevel
else
self.userlevel > item
end
end
(other operators are overloaded in essentially the same way). As I
understand it, using the operator ">" inside the overloaded

arris tm502g cablemodem FXS ports and zaptel 1.4.8
Hi there,
I have a cablemodem, ARRIS brand, model tm502G. It has two FXS ports.
I was wondering if anyone has details about the correct signalling of
these FXS ports when connected to original X100p.
Tests:
fxsks on the zapata.conf and zaptel.conf files. From my cellphone I
call the ARRIS, it starts ringing but the zap channel sees no call
coming in.

SMB-server from Win2k -> Red Hat Linux 7.2 - Samba 2.2.1a seen in Network Neighbourhood but not browsable
Hi everyone,
I am new to the list and new to Linux as well as to Samba. I've read quite a
few howtos, man-pages and other docs on samba now. I configured my own
SMB-server with smbd and nmbd. Of course I generated a smb.conf file and my
server is accessible and running on the Linux mashine. I can connect with
smbclient to the Linux-mashine and to the win2k-mashine (hostname and service

SMB service can't be used across Routers?
In the latest SMB-HOWTO doc,I see the following words:
SMB services cannot be used across routers. If you want to do something like that, you would need to set up an IP tunnel ...
Is that true?
Is that the reason that I can't see the LinuxBox in Windoz net neighbourhood,but
can find it using "find computer"?

any error message.
My Red Hat machine prints fine however. I've included a portion of

Samba / NT / Win98 and Browsing
Hey all,
Our scenario is hopefully quite simple. A client has a MS Small Business
Server and about 6-8 Win98 clients. There are also two SCO v5 boxes, which
are running samba 2.0.3 (the precompiled version). From the NT box, we can
see the SCO servers, but from the Win98 boxes, the SCO servers are not
visible. Samba is configured to register its name with the NT WINS server,
and I'd

ANNOUNCE: SMB2WWW, a web gateway to SMB networks
Ladies and gentlemen,
it is with great pleasure that I announce to you SMB2WWW, a HTML gateway
to SMB (or Windows) networks.
What is it ?
SMB2WWW is a set of perl scripts designed to give you access to your
network in a similar way as the Network Neighbourhood of MS Windows
fame. It requires a recent version of perl, samba and a web server that
supports CGI.
What can I do with it ?

Strange behaviour on Win98
I am currently trying to integrate a Samba v2.2.5 server into an NT domain.
I have already succeeded to join the server into the domain and have
authentication working (security = DOMAIN), but when I'm trying to
access it from a Win98 client, it sometimes says "network name not
found", although the server is visible in the "network neighbourhood".
Then, after waiting a

How to access atributes from a join table?
I have a table "domains", "users" and a join table of "domains_users"
which has the domain_id, user_id as well as a userlevel_id attribute.
I know that in the model User class I can set the value of this
attribute with a function that calls:
domains.push_with_attributes(domain, :userlevel => 1)
but how do I access the userlevel field so that I can use it later

Bit of complex smb networking... is it possible?
Hi Team,
I'm looking for a bit of help to push out an idea... don't know if what
I'm thinking is even possible so advice and feedback would be great.
CONCEPT
I want to create a shared folder for all users on a subnet that has a
defined amount of space they can use.
So, all the users in 192.168.2.0/24 can see /homes/subnet2space/ as

Solaris 8 smb problem
I'm not sure if this is a samba/solaris problem or a Win98 problem and I'll tell you why. I have a Solaris 8 server runing samba 2.2.2, a linux/samba 2.0.7 box and a couple Win 98 boxes. When I did a complete restore of my Win98 box from tape, I could no longer access the Solaris 8 server via network neighbourhood. I can see the Solaris/samba box there with the other Win98 and linux box
