Samba 2.0.7-pre4 error in nmbd
Hello, I don't know what the problem is but when I try to set my NT workstation to use my Samba server (Solaris2.7) as a PDC, the nmbd process dies with the following entries added to log.nmb: [2000/04/17 11:06:29, 1] nmbd/nmbd_processlogon.c:process_logon_packet(70) process_logon_packet: Logon from 147.197.206.8: code = 12 [2000/04/17 11:06:29, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(40)

Linux 2.2.13 Intel samba-2.0.7pre2 will Sig11 and die on me right after processing NetBIOS name = FOO in smb.conf. Not always, but sometimes I have to start smbd 2 or 3 times. It always fails there. Any reason why 2.0.7pre2 would do this, and 2.0.6 (from rpm) never did? -- Edward Schernau http://www.schernau.com Network Architect mailto:ed@schernau.com Rational Computing Providence, RI,

2.0.7pre2: multihomed_register_name error
rh61, 2.2.14. The problem is in 2.0.6 also. 1st samba is wins server. 2nd samba uses the 1st samba as wins server. All is ok, but if I use interfaces = eth0 127.0.0.1 bind interfaces only = yes (is there anything wrong in the above lines?) in the 2nd samba, then I get the following in the log.nmb of the 2nd samba: [2000/03/29 15:45:30, 1] nmbd/nmbd.c:main(743) Netbios nameserver version

Samba question - Out of File Structures
I could do with some help. We're creating a large number of files from from NT Workstation. After a while (I think it's 1014 files but it may be 2027), the SAMBA log reports "Out of file structure" errors. Below is a cut down version of the log file. The 1014 number is significant as it appears in the SAMBA log when SAMBA starts. I'm guessing it's a Solaris OS limit.

Samba 2.0.7pre3 snapshot released.
Hi all, I just released Samba 2.0.7pre3, available from : ftp://samba.org/pub/samba/alpha/samba-2.0.7pre3.tar.gz This is the third snapshot of the code that should become the official Samba 2.0.7 and is feature complete (ie. I'm only going to accept bug fixes, not more features). This is *not* production code, but should work well as a file and print server, and contains fixes for

Testing Samba 2.0.7pre2 I found that creating new shares with SWAT does not work, just the Samba-logo appears, but nothing else. -- Stephan D?hr <duehr@ID-PRO.net> (Support) * ID-PRO Deutschland GmbH * Am Hofgarten 20 * D-53113 Bonn * Tel +49 228 4 21 54 0 * Fax +49 228 4 21 54 59 * http://open-for-the-better.com/

Samba can't authenticate in Win2k domain
I have three Sun fileservers running Samba 2.0.4b. They're setup to authenticate with the local NT PDC, "iss-tech-f". In particular, they've got this in their smb.conf files: security = domain password server = iss-tech-f encrypt passwords = yes This setup has been stable for many months, and I routinely point to it as a success story for open source. Now that

Why does Samba 2.0.6 like other systems but not itself?
I'm running samba on a SPARC20 running Solaris 2.4. I have been running v2.0.5a successfully for quite some time. I've tried a couple of times to move up to 2.0.6 but there seems to be a problem that I can't diagnose easily. 2.0.6 builds with no problems 2.0.6 installs with no problems 2.0.6 starts up with no problems smbstatus returns correct info with no problems smbclient -L

Hello! We just upgraded our samba-1.9.18p10-Server on solaris 2.4 to samba 2.0.6: configure and compiling worked o.k., we didn't see any error messages. we did not touch smb.conf The NT-clients can not conect to the server: "Server is not avaiable", in the logs we get the message: Copyright Andrew Tridgell 1992-1998 [1999/12/07 22:32:29, 1] smbd/files.c:file_init(216) file_init:

samba-2.0.7pre2 and file timestamps
I just installed 2.0.7pre2 on a test system. The file "touch" problem from 2.0.6 seems to be back. Running various utilities called "touch" do not successfully update file timestamps on a filesystem provided by 2.0.7pre2. I actually prefer THIS incorrect behavior over the behavior I've seen after this bug is "fixed". The bugfix posted by Paul Eggert for 2.0.6

Auto location of domain controllers.
Hi all, FYI: I got the auto location of domain controllers with security = domain coded up, working and tested and will be putting it into the 2.0.6 release. To use it just change the password server= line to be : password server = * Someone (I can't remember who) was requiring this functionality.... Cheers, Jeremy Allison, Samba Team. --
