Samba and Lantastic
I currently have two Samba servers installed and running. In the current environment, 8 of the users are running Lantastic 7.0 clients on Windows 2000 systems. Now these users want to access the Samba servers, with installing the Microsoft networking client. Has anyone done this, if so how. I have contacted Lantastic regarding this. At one point they told the client that they support

Invitation to a new Q&A statistical-analysis website
There is a new initiative to open a community based Q&A website which is
based on the StackOverFlow engine - to answer data-analysis (and obviously
R) related Questions.
After good several months of using StackOverFlow (see the R tagged questions
here <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/R>), I came to the
conclusion that it offers a very good web 2.0 solution for collaborative

Q&A site for web radio
Hi guys,
I'm a long time user of a site called Stackoverflow, which is a
specialised question and answer site for programming. (Think Experts
Exchange, but free.)
Anyway, I decided today that it might be useful to have an equivalent
for web radio. So I put in a proposal to the Stackoverflow guys. Now I
just need people to express an interest in it, so that the Stackoverflow
people will

XenProject.org Q&A: Running xen to create PV hosts under KVM with virtio
The following question was posed by Simon Easter on the
XenProject.org Q&A area. Please reply to me so I can post your
answers to the site or, if you feel so inclined, answer yourself on
the website:
I have a need to run very low weight PV debian guests under a kvm
hypervised guest .(i.e. split a vm using pv - the reasons are varied
but essentially each host has to have it''s own

WANTED: Q&A
First, I am really liking what I have seen so far in R. The demos are
quite fascinating, and I look forward to doing some really neat stuff
over the next little while with R.
Being but an intiate to R, I am having quite a bit of trouble figuring
out how to use the leaps library. Rather than ask several questions to
the list at large, I would rather explain what I'm trying to do to

backward step?
Running my jigsaw program, BigJig, under Wine-0.9.17, the screen looks like
it did under early versions (0.9.12 and before), and all the jigsaw
selection thumbnails have gone. This has been the case since version 0.9.15.
I recall that I fixed the layout by installing fonts - something about the
size of the fonts set the size of the buttons. I am running Sidenet, which
links to the Linux fonts.

Strange display error.
I have just had a recurring hardware problem with my graphics card, a modern
NVidia one with Mandriva's driver. I suspect that it is dust getting into
the socket. It set itself up in framebuffer mode. Anyway, it is now
working, and seems to be behaving normally, except...
All my apps under Wine still work fine except the one that matters, the
jigsaw program.

Help with Scviews
Dear all
I would appreciate it if someone could help me to install Scviews.
1) I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3 with 1Gb of memory and 120GB HDrive.
2) R is installed and runs fine
RCommander is installed and seems to run reasonably well. Some issues where it 'bombs' out for no reason.
3) I cannot run (install.packages:"Scviews") from any CRAN site.
4) What I have done

swfdec in firefox on Fedora8 x86_64
Hi All,
I've tried swfdec on Fedora 8 x86_64 without much luck. I originally
used the rpms from livna. I primarily want it just to view youtube
videos which from various blog posts I thought worked. It seems to
detect the flash but i just get a white background (it does detect a
plugin as you don't get the jigsaw piece).
So i recompiled the rpm on my machine just to make sure. No

Another Delphi App Fails
The best jigsaw puzzle program, "Jigsaws Galore" is written in Delphi, does
things that Microsofts's APIs simply cannot. Great program.
Attempting to run in WINE, especially the latest and greatest, is
catastrophic. Once, it simply changed the screen resolution to something
hopeless and failed. I could then restart X or otherwize switch the
resolution back with alt-cntrol-+ or

ACL
Hi samba group,
I'm trying to get samba to act like Windows in the Security tab (to be able
to add, remove, and modify ACLs on certain files/folders). We are running
Centos 5.2 (2.6.18-92.1.22.el5) with XFS installed for the /share partition.
I currently have these versions of samba installed:
samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
samba-common-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
I am pretty sure the ACL is all

Graphics issue
I use Wine only to run BigJig (http://www.lenagames.com/bigjig/). Under
Wine 0.9.12 most things work. I can't get graphics for the types of
pieces, only smudges of colour, and I can't start a jigsaw from the
downloaded file.
A previous Answer Man on this list (reln?) said that he had it working
fully, but didn't say what settings he had used. Are there particular DLLs
I should try?

Getting users and groups through winbind on FreeBSD
Hi
We have a few Linux samba servers that authenticate against our
Active Directory domain (Small Business Server 2000). I've added a
couple of disks to a FreeBSD 6.1 server in our office and I'm trying
to achieve the same but not having much luck. I'm new to all
this... I'm not our network admin, but he is BSD-phobic so I thought
it was safer to do it myself.

I'm having enough trouble this end just keeping up with the submissions,
never mind tracking down the etymology of all submissions. If
