If you will be at SC13, have an interesting project based on or within LLVM, and would be willing to come to the BoF and spend 10 minutes or so giving an overview of it, please email me. I am trying to get a collection of people together to talk about vectorization and

Samba as a member of a NT domain - questions
Hello
I asked this question, but He said I should put it on this list.
So here it is. I hope someone can help me.
So I took the liberty of sending you a email, and hope you don't mind.
I want to use a linux server, and have one running, on SuSE 6 (going to
6.1 soon)
Already I have been able to let the machine participate in the NT
Domain. From my windows machine I can go to the Linux

"wide links" parameter and symlinks
Hi,
I have been having some trouble getting samba to deal with symlinks
the way I want it to. What I want is to allow symlinks within the scope
of the current share only, but not outside of it. I can stop symlinks
being followed at all, with "follow symlinks = no", but if I turn
"follow
symlinks" on, all symlinks seem to be followed whether "wide links"
is set or

changing smb passwords from non smb machines
In the interest of not having password divergence between NT and unix
I've got everything authenticating against and ldap database.
samba password updates are not a problem - i just
use the unix password syncing features.
however the other direction is proving to be a problem.
I can rig pam to update both passwords with pam_ldap and pam_smbpass
on machines that run samba. On some machines I

PAM/winbindd/smb_pass/pam_smb_auth/smb_ntdom to authenticate SSH
Hello,
I'm currently running winbind (from Samba 2.2.3a) so that our
Windows users can ssh into our Linux box. I've set up Samba,
PAM and winbind, and it's working well. Users can see their
files, and they can log in using their windows usernames. No
problem.
When users access their Samba share, they don't need
to reauthenticate, because they've already done so with

New package 'backbone' for extracting significant edges from a weighted graph
Hello R users,
I am excited to introduce a new package for R which is now available on CRAN called ?backbone?.
The package can be found here: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/backbone/index.html
The backbone package provides methods for extracting from a weighted graph a binary or signed backbone that retains only the significant edges. The user may input a weighted graph, or a bipartite

Samba 2.0.6, MKS' touch.exe, and file/dir time stamps
Hello all,
we are experiencing problems with samba 2.0.6 and the MKS touch command.
during our builds, we touch files and directories so that our make
dependencies work correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that MKS' touch.exe
doesn't actually change the time stamp of a file or directory. The
command returns without an error, but the timestamp does not change.
The same problem exists

WIN2K authenticates against 2.0.6!!!
Since I didn't receive any replies to my questions or observations, we were
forced to try new things...
We upgraded NT4SP5 (which does everything we want it to do) to Windows 2000 Pro
and magically it now authenticates against Samba 2.0.6 on AIX 4.3.2.
We have some problems however...the logon script does not run and the
"LogonServer" environment variable is no longer set to the

I have samba-2.0.5 installed on AIX 4.3.2 and it works fine. I do have a
problem that I can't figure out. When I create a file on a Samba share from
Windows NT4sp5 and then go to AIX and look at the directory the file is
owned by "root" group "sys".I need it to be user "bill" group "pc". What am

Samba PDC causing M$ office not to work
Hello,
I've set up samba 2.2.1a on a Linux box as a PDC for a bunch of
NT4SP5 clients. This works quite nicely. All applications work as
they should, except Office, which complains about a failure to
initialize user32.dll. If I turn all users into domain admin, of-
fice works as it should. Some of the PCs run with FAT (I know
it's bad, but it was already so when I started to

PAM authentication to Active Directory
Hello list,
I want to authenticate (only authenticate) through active directory with PAM. I googled around and everything I found, wheter it is forum posts or howtos, it always talks about winbind and joining the linux machine to the windows domain. I do not which to do this, I only want to get PAM to authenticate with the AD and then everything else is local.
Should I use pam_winbind ?

Linux passwd authentication through NT
Hello,
I would like to authenticate Linux' logins by asking a local NT server
whether the supplied login id and the corresponding password match.
Is there a way to do this ?
I.e. is there a PAM module or any other utility that would allow me to
do this from a script ? (i.e. a script like
$ correct_NT_passwd _supplied_username_ _supplied_passwd_
that would return 0 if they match

Pls. HELP : v1.9.18p10 much more robust with security=server than v2.04
Hello samba-list-reader,
why is samba v2.0x worse than v1.9.18p10 with respect to
NT-authentification with security=server ?
I have exactly the same smb.conf on two servers, one running samba v2.04b
and the other running samba v1.9.18p10 (Sun Solaris2.6).
With v1.9.18p10 everything works fine since months.
On the server running v2.0x in about 10% of all NT-authentification-tries
