Samba and DOS
Greetings, Is there any way to get Samba to interact with MS-DOS? I am attempting to turn a Linux box into a VPN router for DOS clients. What I need to know is, can I get a CIFS protocol stack for MS-DOS, is a TCP/IP stack sufficient, are there any other solutions anyone knows about? Thank You. Hi, I'm a french student from Ecole des Mines of Nantes. Students of my engineering school live in a residence with its own local network, access to sun workstation at school for working and a Internet access througth a firewall. In each room of the residence, we have a RJ25 plug. We just need a network card and a computer to go on this network. As you can expected, our network is a jungle

HP LJ6 prints blank page at end of W95 print job
I'm trying to use an HP LJ6 as a network printer on a Samba server (linux). Everything works fine except... whenever a W95 print job finishes, the printer throws a blank page. I've tried everything short of hex dumping the output - I've tried using a minimal printcap entry with no filtering, I've tried using apsfilter... The really odd thing is the binary data itself can't be

I'm still trying . Can someone tell me how to find what values those %.. parameters take when Samba is acessed ? Alex > > Go to http://www.reac.com/samba/ and check out the stuff with

Connecting from W95 to Samba Share
Hello group; This is a question that has been posted before, but I haven't found an answer in the archives or in the FAQ/docs. I've been thru the DIAGNOSIS.txt, and get stuck on net view \\machname from a W95 OSR2 box (error 53 ...). Setup: Solaris machine running Samba 2.0.0. I can use smbclient to connect to it from various HP, AIX, Solaris, and Linux boxes, and NT 4.0 clients work

Problems accessing a W95 share
Hi! I'm trying to use a printer connected to a Win95 box from Linux but when I try 'smbclient -L win95_machine' I get the following message: SMBnegprot failed. myname=TARKUS destname=WIN95 - ERRSRV - 1311 I'm using samba-1.9.18p5. The access in the other way (W95 to Linux shares) works without any problems. When I set the printer as shared in the W95 box it is possible to

Matching two redhat servers
Help! I've got two new servers. I installed redhat v7.3 on one myself, and have got it to run samba successfully and connect to a W95 PC. The other was bought pre-installed with the same linux version, and I cannot get the W95 box to get beyond "No domain server was available...". As far as I see, \etc\samba\smb.conf files are identical, as are the \etc\hosts files. I'm using

old smbd's block new connections
Hi, We recenly upgraded to verion 1.9.18p4 on Digital Unix 4.0b (I believe our previous smb version was 1.9.16). Occasionally we have reports of one of our users having their w95 logon script freeze at the point where it tries to mount their samba drives. I have found I can recreate this problem by: - login to W95. mount a drive from the samba server - turn of the W95 pc. smbd

smbclient size report
Hello everybody, I'm having problems trying to get smbclient give me right size for amanda backup. I'll give two examples: a 3.6GB w95 share and a 500MB nt4.0 share. With w95 smbclient gives inconsistent results (I saw in your maillists' archives that it may be that w95 can't handle that big partitions). This is what amanda is using to get the size: smbclient

W95 and encrypted passwords?
Hi all, I'm trying to play with the "not-yet-officially-supported-PDC-code" in samba-2.0.3 and running into problems with the W95 client I'm using for testing. Since the Samba server is using 'encrypted passwords=yes' my W95 system can't log in, since it's passing plain-text passwords. How do I *enable* encrypted passwords under W95? Is there a quick

weird problem
Hi there, I ran into a weird problem. 2 machines, one with an NE2000 clone (W95) card and the other with an Etherworks203 (linux with Samba). Samba: from W95 client file shares ok, home shares ok, can read and write files. Printing: I *can* configure a printer up to the printing of the testpage, that fails. At starting of W95 it succesfully connect to the printer share. Printing something fails,

Mount point goes invisible
I'm just getting started, and getting quite a strange result. I've been able to mount my (login hal) Linux home directory as E: on my w95 system, but when I try to "smbmount //isdn2/AMDAHL-WORK /mnt/amdahlwork", where /mnt/amdahlwork is an empty directory on Linux, isdn2 is defined in /etc/hosts as 192,168.1.2, the address the W95 box uses, and AMDAHL-WORK is the name under
