Samba and DOS
Greetings, Is there any way to get Samba to interact with MS-DOS? I am attempting to turn a Linux box into a VPN router for DOS clients. What I need to know is, can I get a CIFS protocol stack for MS-DOS, is a TCP/IP stack sufficient, are there any other solutions anyone knows about? Thank You. Hello, Windows 95/98/NT have the ability to have a comment string displayed when you are browsing the network. Ie, my machine MYPC in domain MYDOMAIN might display the comment "Ryk Field". I am trying to identify if there is any way to obtain that comment information on the screen as the output of an nmblookup or smbclient or similar. Ie, when an NMBLOOKUP comes back it shows

R CMD INSTALL --build: Folders /inst and /etc not in zip-file and WindowsXP locks /library/[package]/etc/
Dear R users, My set-up: OS=Windows XP, R-2.9.2, Rtools210 I faced the follwing problem with the package compilation: There is no "/inst" or "/etc" subdirectory in the package-zip-file. And the content of the "/etc" subdirectory is lost, too. I tried a simplified "test" package. The "test" package has the following structure (see also attachement:

Prayer, Maildir and Folders whose names begin with "."
Greetings - I think I've just had one of my fears confirmed: not Dovecot-specific exactly, but it affects how we will use of Prayer (Webmail Software) with Dovecot... Currently our production service uses MBX-format mailboxes with the UW IMAP server; we also use the University of Cambridge "Prayer" software for Webmail. By default Prayer saves its preference settings,

Dovecot allows creation of folders outside of a user's directory
Hi, in our dovecot 2.0 setup with shared folders, users can make dovecot create directories outside their mail directory. Which is a bit scary imho. The following command: . create inbox.shared.abc123 or even . create "inbox.shared.strange &ANY- characters" -- even though it will fail with a "permission denied" error -- will create a directory like

[LLVMdev] LLVM's Makefile System Questions
Hi, I have already successfully created a loadable module to perform a transformation pass that is used by LLVM's opt program. However, now I would like to incorporate a specialized parser (built with flex and bison) within that very same loadable module. This parser's function is to parse a simple language that will be used to specify how and where to perform the transformations. What

samba + linux subdirectory 'other' permissions
Hi All I'm sure this is a fairly basic question out there for someone however I haven't had much luck googling for an answer hence I thought I'd try here. I'm having issues getting the correct permissions on a directory for the 'other' users. Each time a file is created in this subdirectory the permissions are set as -rw-rw---- and what I want to achieve is -rwxrwx-r-x In

Move data from the zpool (root) to a zfs file system
Hi List, As a ZFS newbie, I foolishly copied my data set to the root zpool file system (a large iSCSI SAN array). Thus: # zpool create -f iscsi c4t19d0 c4t20d0 c4t21d0 c4t22d0 c4t23d0 c4t24d0 # zpool list NAME SIZE USED AVAIL CAP HEALTH ALTROOT iscsi 9.53T 64.5K 5.34T 0% ONLINE - # zfs set mountpoint=/mydisks/iscsi iscsi Then copied

Sharing nested folders / maildir variations?
Hey all, So I've got a shared namespace in dovecot where users can, via a custom control panel, share their folders into (which creates a symlink) in order to allow anyone on their domain to access it. I store mail in maildir. The issue is that when people share folders, they expect that when they make subfolders, those are automatically shared as they are contained within it.

syslinux should register a namespace at the EFI System Partition Subdirectory Registry
Hi folks. I think it cannot harm (although the whole thing is anyway just voluntary), that syslinux registers it's name at the "EFI System Partition Subdirectory Registry": http://www.uefi.org/specs/esp_registry I guess that probably needs to be done by some officially authorised syslinux person... Cheers, Chris. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was

setting the environment variable R_LIBS
Thanks to Peter Dalgaard , I have made some decent progress as far as getting R to work in linux . I just want to set my environment variable R_LIBS to /u/etlfs/dev/users/leedsmar/R/library ( in linux ) so that I can install specific packages. Does anyone know the syntax and in which file I set this variable ( .Rprofile etc ). I've looked in the installation manual ( i'm mainly on pg 14

[PATCH] --one-file-system and automounter
We use rsync in a Linux installation script. First, the root filesystem of another machine on the network is cloned with "rsync -axzH", and then a few files are updated to give the clone its own identity. This works fine, but last week, the Postfix mailer daemon on a new machine refused to start because some lock files had a link count of 2. It turned out that rsync had created two

[LLVMdev] LLVM Hello Project generating .lo file in place of .so file.
Hello, I am trying to compile the Hello Project of the lib/Transforms/Hello subdirectory according to the instructions given on http://llvm.cs.uiuc.edu/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html document. I am using 1.6cvs source to compile LLVM. The problem is that after running the Make file on the project, the Debug subdirectory contains .lo file in place of .so file. I need the .so file to use with opt

Set "hidden" attribute on folder
Hi list I have set up a share with "map hidden = yes", "create mask = 0777" and "directory mask = 0777". Setting and removing the "hidden" attribute on a file works as expected, but not on folders. If I check the unix permissions on the folders, the execute bit is always set for "other". Is this not implemented ? I know it is possible to

subfolders in the R folder
Dear R-devel, Packages don't allow for subfolders in R with a couple exceptions. We find in "Writing R extensions" : > The R and man subdirectories may contain OS-specific subdirectories named unix or windows. This is something I've seen discussed outside of the mailing list numerous times, and thanks to this SO question
