domain logons across subnets
hi, I tried to make a win95 machine to perform a domain-logon to an NT server, which is in a diferent subnet, behind a linux-router. on this linux-router, I also installed samba. I noticed in log.nmbd, that the client always queries for a "0x1c" type, but never gets a response from nmbd. Thus , I "hacked" the "wins.dat" file, and restartet nmbd: HBLADOMAIN#1e

printing and samba
I have samba 2.0.5a running on my RH 6.1 linux machine (intel), and it does filesharing for my windows machine on the same network. Recently, I tried to set up printing but have so far been unsucessful. I have the printer set up correclty, because I can print to it from the server, and remotely from other linux machines on my network. Here is the section from my smb.conf file [global] printing =

Any idea how making Asterisk "transparent"?
Hello! I am using Asterisk as transparent voice recorder for calls (isdn <-> asterisk <-> pbx). Voice recording (therefore voice forwarding) is working great but seems that Asterisk does not route/bridge/forward D-Channel messages which means PBX cannot get time synchronization answer from provider and tarification impulse too. With direct connection PBX works great and use both

NTP server problem behind firewall
Hello! I would like to setup an NTP server for my Windows network using CentOS 6.3 with firewall turned on. As I learned the NTP protocol uses port 123 UDP. I have two NIC cards. One for internal network and one for access internet. Both cards in private address range. The problem is when I am using firewall described below the client cannot access the server. No idea why. Without firewall

'h' extension on call-out
Hello! I would like to store ISDNCAUSE on automatic call-out campaign (possibly gives more detail on failed call). How is it possible? I have tried 'failed' and 'h' extension. No luck. Extension 'failed' does not know anything about ISDNCAUSE and 'h' extension is not called at all. Any idea? I am using Asterisk 1.2.14 on FC4 if it counts. Cheers, a

rsync patch -flags fails to compile on Mac OSX
I am trying to compile rsync 3.0.0cvs with the flags.diff patch on a Mac OSX G4. It fails because the flags UF_NOUNLINK, and SF_NOUNLINK do not exist on this platform. sys/stat.h only gives the following flags * Definitions of flags stored in file flags word. * * Super-user and owner changeable flags. */ #define UF_SETTABLE 0x0000ffff /* mask of owner changeable flags */ #define

My example - I have 10 computers all connected to internet via mobile broadband and public apns. all wan ip addresses are dynamic and change often - there is no machine or point with a static ip. I am not allowed to use any third party services like dyndns. I want each computer to continue to be able to

Problem enabling write-back cache for IBM ServeRAID controller in CENTOS 4.2
Hi, I have just upgraded an IBM Xseries x225 server to CentOS 4.2 (from CentOS 3.6) and found out that write back cache is not enabled for the drive representing the RAID array. The RAID controller has 128 MB battery backed cache. Write back cache is enabled in the controller configuration (using the IBM boot cd) and verified using the IBM RaidManager utility, but the boot messages show that

Question about Salted Hash Login Generator
Hi, I am using salted hash login generator to create my login page. In the user_environment.rb file, I saw that there is a comment saying should NOT include the email field in the changeable user fields array. Does anyone know why? > # Add all changeable user fields to this array. > # They will then be able to be edited from the edit action. You > # should NOT include the

dhcp lease time hardware in script at dhcpd/Bind/Samba wiki page
There seems to be a slight issue with the instructions at the following wiki page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 The /usr/local/bin/dhcp-dyndns.sh script seems to use a hardwired value for the lease expiry time of 3600 - independent of whatever is configured in dhcpd.conf. With the examples provided, it should work, as the example dhcpd.conf

DDNS and host: updating when destination IP changes
Hi All; I am using IAX Trunk and I used ddns (dyndns.org) with the host (host=xyz.dyndns.org), when I restart the router who has the hostname xyz.dyndns.org then its IP address change and updated, but at asterisk level still it keeps sending for the old IP address and sometimes this problem does not resolve until I restart asterisk. Any one faced this and has idea how to resolve it so Asterisk

company exchange server & exim best practices.
Hi all, I hope this isn't too OT, but since I use a CentOS5.2 + Exim mail server (which is hosted in one of our data centres) I don't think it should be. On of our clients use an MS Exchange 2003 SBS server, with exchange for their internal email. We provide them with a domain, ADSL (which uses dynamic DNS) and POP3 email. They don't have an spam filter program on the exchange server
