multiple Administrator accounts
Hello, How can I allow users to use the Administrator accounts on their local machines and login into the samba PDC? Background: We use NT wks and Win2000, and want to locally log into those machines as Administrator. This creates a problem because there can only be one password for Administrator in smbpasswd, yet each user has a different password for Administrator on their local machine. Thx

Cross Subnet WINS?
But the win wks on the other subnet is configured to use my SAMBASERVER as its WINS SERVER, and it is configured using the IP Adress of the SAMBASERVER and not the name. Shouldn't this do the trick? win wks is on a wireless subnet and hence runs at 11 MBPS, while the SAMBASERVER is on a wired subnet. I read somewhere that windows does some kind of "optimization" with slow networks.

Change in SID: users having trouble
When I migrated our Samba PDC from version 2.2.7 to 3.0, I was forced to have the 4 machines we are using rejoin our domain, because the SID had changed. Since then, users have been able to log on, but any attempt to start IE, or Outlook fails, apparently because something in the user's profile cannot be accessed due to the SID modification, and the icons in the WinXP start menu have

Delete machine account from AD to fix The trust relationship
Hello Samba List, I have a desktop with a clean full install of Windows 10 Pro 1709. I have an entry in the Samba 4.7 AD for the machine account (from when it was Windows 7 Pro). Windows 10 appears to join the Domain successfully. When I try to log in with the DOMAIN\Administrator account I get the Windows error:- "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for

Upgrading Samba 4 server [SEC=UNOFFICIAL]
UNOFFICIAL I am running several small networks with Samba 4 acting as AD/DC. I want to upgrade the OS and Samba on the older servers. But I understand that to upgrade the OS, I need to do a new install (at least to get from Centos 6 to 7). I don't have the luxury of new hardware, so creating a secondary DC and taking over from PDC is not an option. These are small networks so recreating the

how to fix the level-1 variances in lme()?
Dear all, Edmond Ng (http://multilevel.ioe.ac.uk/softrev/reviewsplus.pdf) provides an example to fit the mixed effects meta-analysis in Splus 6.2. The syntax is: lme(fixed=d~wks, data=meta, random=~1|study, weights=varFixed(~Vofd), control=lmeControl(sigma=1)) where d is the effect size, study is the study number, Vofd is the variance of the effect size and meta is the data frame.

3.6.0: smbclient can't access a NT4 share
Hi, I upgraded to 3.6.0, but since that time, I can't connect to a share on a NT4 Wks host any more: # /usr/bin/smbclient //molek-04/lightcycler -U administrator protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT I thought it could be something with 'client ntlmv2 auth", what is 'yes' since that version. But even if I switch it to 'no' it's the same. What

FYI : oplock problems
FYI, I'm setting up a file server for 1000 users based on mdk 8.0, self-compiled 2.4.19 + acl patches, self compiled samba 2.2.6, 100 Mbps NIC this server is right now in a pre-prod status and is currently used only by very few users while loading several +100 MB files on a share from a NT 4 wks 100 Mbps, we got several "session cancelled" messages, and un-killable D-state smbd

difficulties with MuMIn model generation with coxph
Hi All, I'm having trouble with the automatized model generation (dredge) function in the MuMIn package. I'm trying to use it to automatically generate subsets of models from a global cox proportional hazards model, and rank them based on AICc. These seems like it's possible, and the Mumin documentation says that coxph is supported. However, when I run the code (see below), it gives

smbwrapper or smbmount ?
Hi ! The O'Reilly "Using Samba" book, recommend not to include smbmount support as it is for Linux only: "This feature wasn't being maintained at the time the book was written, so the Samba team made it an optional feature and provided smbwrapper instead. The smbwrapper feature works on more Unix platforms than smbmount, so you'll usually want to use --with-smbwrapper

Migrating to new domain
In the comming months we will be setting up a few new machines to replace our PDC and BDC that are currently running Fedora 11 with Samba 3.4.7 and OpenLDAP 2.4.15. We will be upgrading to the latest Fedora with samba/ldap. With this we will be recreating our domain fresh to get rid of alot of old junk not needed and add in new features. We do use roaming profiles also. My main concern is this:
