Stripping/Prevent CRLF
I thought I had read somewhere that you can prevent the adding of the ^M's when copying a file to a samba share. (Such as doing an ascii ftp) Now I cannot find where I read this. I have a constant need to transfer excel files containing data to be uploaded and want to use samba to get these to the server. Can this be configured into Samba. I am using 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6. When using

Problem with file permissions getting changed
I had a user modify his profile in his home directory with WordPad via Samba 2.0.6 and saved the changes. Samba changed the file permissions of the .profile to 740. (Not even the user's umask setting) What parameters can I look into to force Samba to retain existing file permissions? I saw something related to creating new files and forcing perms etc.. but nothing to this effect. I am running

Can't get SAMBA to send winpopups properly
Hi, I am configuring SAMBA 2.2.7 to act as a print server to do chargeback cost accounting. It is a member of the NT domain and has no user accounts. Using the %U variable I am able to track print jobs without a hitch. But the other thing I need to be able to do is send the user a popup with his/her balance. I would like to be able to send this popup after every printjob, but the only

Verification on HOW adding a machines works
I'm straddling the half-way point between samba and ldap. When adding a machine to the domain, functionally, it works like you would expect. You enter in the domain, enter your credentials, and reboot. The computer is able to function as a machine on the domain. I'm using the smbldap-tools as suggested in the wiki. Here's the script: add machine script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd

Sending "fake" ip address to WINS server when advertising?
Hi all: I've got a Linux box behind a linksys stand-alone NAT. Currently I have port-forwarding turned on so it is actually possible to connect to my samba shares using my IP address. We use a WINS server, but of course if I tell samba about the WINS server it advertises itself as 192.168.1.3 (the behind-the-NAT address). This won't allow others to connect from outside the NAT though.

dotnet20 on ubuntu 8.10
Howdy Howdy, I am trying to run Razor and RunUO on my Intrepid Ibex box, but am struggling. I am using 64 bit and wine 1.1.13. Specifically, I cannot get dotnet11 or dotnet20 to work (via winetricks). Any hints? I've tried various walk-throughs and read posts by the dozens, all without success. This is what it states: > Setting Windows version to win2k > Executing wine regedit

Windows 2000 RC2 problem in printing (Samba 2.0.6)
Dear sir: There was one problem which bothered me for a long time. I used the Red Hat 5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 (gcc 2.7.2.3) and samba-2.0.3, samba-2.0.5a for a period of time. The Linux was treated as the Samba server. All of the file/printer sharing from the Linux samba server to the MS-Windows 95/98/NT clients are OK. It only got problems in the Windows 2000 (since Beta3, now RC2) as the

[Fwd: Re: Fourier Analysis and Curve Fitting in R]
well if you want to find the spectral density aka what frequencies explain most of the variance then I would suggest the spectral density. This can be implemented with spec.pgram(). This is conducted with the fast fourier transform algorithm. a<-ts(data, frequency = 1) #make the time series with 365readings/365days ?spec.pgram and you should be able to take it from here This will

sending "WinPopup" message to a user
Just wondering if there is a way to send a WinPopup message to a user (using username). I have had a look at smbclient but it appears to only allow sending messages to a computer name. Thanks in advance, Russell Kliese

Sending / Receiving WinPopup on Ubuntu Linux Workstation
Greetings- Perhaps slightly OT, but still involving the SMB/CIFS protocol: I am searching for an application which would allow a Linux client (Ubuntu) to send/receive WinPopup messages. The only one I have located thus far is LinPopup. However, it depends on the Samba (server) package. I do not want to deploy a bazillion Samba servers! TIA! -- Michael Lueck Lueck Data Systems

Deviance of zeroinfl/hurdle models
Dear list, I'm wondering if anyone can help me calculate the deviance of either a zeroinfl or hurdle model from package pscl? Even if someone could point me to the correct formula for calculating the deviance, I could do the rest on my own. I am trying to calculate a pseudo-R-squared measure based on the R^{2}_{DEV} of [1], so I need to be able to calculate the deviance of the full and null

Makefile.in diff against CVS to prevent man/config rebuild every make
Bug: all .out files get rebuilt every make. This is silly, and breaks make install if root cannot write to your build dir. Fix: add dependancy check sop .out files only get rebuilt if the source file changes FixBug: if any source file gets changed, all .out files get rebuilt. This is because man pages and config files both get .out extensions but get created differently. It's

Trouble Using AR Object based on a Piggyback Query?
Hi, I''m new to Rails and Ruby and can''t access methods/columns from an ActiveRecord object that is a "piggy-back" row as described by David here: http://www.loudthinking.com/arc/000235.html Via Console I can create the piggyback object but reading attributes gives "TypeError: cannot convert String into Integer" (this is in Console and the browser).

An Appreciation of Leo Breiman (1928-2005)
We are organizing three projects to honor Leo Breiman this year. First, Salford Systems' Data Mining Conference will open with a special session devoted to his scientific contributions. Second, we would like to construct Leo's scientific "family tree," identifying Leo's students, collaborators, and others whose work has been influenced in an important way by Leo's
