Samba 3.0.0 compile errors
Apologies first! I am currently maintaining a very old SunOS 4.1.3_U1 server which is in a sensitive location an cannot be upgraded. It will be replaced soon, but in the meantime... I need to upgrade my Samba 2.0.6 to Samba 3.0.0, but receive the following compile errors: jasperl}source% make Using FLAGS = -g -O2 -I./popt -Iinclude -I/home/jasperl/julian/local/src/samba-3.0.0/source/include

Samba 2.0.5a upgrade
All, I've just upgraded from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5a on my Sparc 20 (Solaris 2.5.1). I've kept the same configurations but I can no longer map drives from my Windows machines (NT, Win95). smbd exits on error: [1999/07/26 15:48:16, 2] smbd/server.c:main(716) Changed root to / [1999/07/26 15:48:16, 3] smbd/oplock.c:open_oplock_ipc(85) open_oplock_ipc: opening loopback UDP socket. mktemp
Has this not been changed to mkstemp just for reason of having to change all of the smbd_mktemp() calls, for portability, or some hidden arcana? Are there any platforms that samba supports that don't have mkstemp? -- Blue Lang http://www.gator.net/~blue Unix Administrator Veritas Software 2315 McMullan Circle,

netbios-ssn/tcp: unknown service
Sorry if this is such a basic question but I couldn't find anything about this in the FAQs/HowTos/Digest. I've compiled samba-1.9.18p3 on SunOS4.1.3_U1. When I tried to run smbd via inetd.conf (SIGHUP), I always get the following on the console. inetd[590]: netbios-ssn/tcp: unknown service I've edited the /etc/services to add: netbios-ssn 139/tcp And the /etc/inetd/conf with

Samba and Win95 printing problem
I am having some problems setting up the printing for samba and was wondering if anyone has any ideas. Samba 1.9.16p11 is running on a SparcStation 20 running SunOS4.1.3_u1. Accessing the shares, like [homes], is successful. When attempting to connect to a printer using Win95 with Service Pack 1, an error occurs. The printer share name, host name, and printcap name are all the same and exactly

APCsmart serial port problem
I have a new APC Smart-UPS SUA2200RM2U. I've had no success with the manufacturer's PowerChute software and smart signaling, so I have decided to try NUT. The smartups driver can't make contact through the serial port. Since this is rack-mounted, it comes with a 940-1524 serial cable. As far as I can tell, this is supposed to work with smart signaling. Here's my ups.conf:

Pressing either Ctrl-\ of Ctrl-4 core dumps R
Thanks for these explanations - it all makes sense, that is, the default behavior for a process that does not capture SIGQUIT is to quit and perform a core dump (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_signal#SIGQUIT). Then the remaining question, as Luke says, is: should R handle this signal? For instance, in interactive mode, SIGQUIT could maybe bring up: Possible actions: 1: abort (with core

Compiling latest postfix fails on C8
Hi, I tried to compile the latest version of postfix, runs fine on C6 and C7, on C8 it fails. Complaining about missing ypclnt.h, this should com from glibc-headers. Any suggestions? SunOS data time problem?
Hello, I have installed samba on an older SunOS 4.0 server. Everything works ok but I have an annoyance when using files that are on the samba accessed partition when in MS Dev Studio. When I do a build or find from within Dev Studio, Dev Studio will prompt that the files that are loaded in the project have been modified, would I like to reload: yes/no. I have the same setup on a Linux server
