windows 98 and samba problem.
Hello,
Whenever I reatart samba on my bsd or my linux machines windows 98
network neighborhood looses either machine, I've got samba set up as a
wins server, and the 98 machine pointing to it, but this doesn't help.
The 98 machine can see it's own shares, but not the samba server, any
ideas?
I'm running 98, freebsd 3.4 release, slackware linux 7.0 and samba 2.05
and 2.06.
Thanks.

Problems authenticating against NT PDC
I'm relatively new to Samba so please excuse any inconsistencies with my
terminology.
I'm running Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6 and having problems creating the Samba
server machine account on an NT PDC.
I already have an NT based domain 'PCDEV' which consists of a number of NT 4.0
workstations as well as a PDC ('AULE') and BDC running NT 4.0 Server with sp5

samba 2.0.6 on Irix 6.5.6m core dump problem (internal error)
Samba: binary kit from samba.org

computer: SGI indigo2 with a 250MHz 4400 CPU, 64MB RAM, Irix 6.5.6m

It looks like every time smbd spawns, the child process seems to die a
horrible death and leave a core file. As a result I am unable to use any
netbios services on the machine.
The core file which I have examined says that the process died with

Define your workflow in more detail.
If you're still working on adding digitized images of actual physical signatures to a pdf
file, then imagemagick can very likely do what you want it to do.??One of its

Windows 7 Can't Join Samba 3.5.4 PDC
Hi all,
When trying to join a windows 7 box to a samba 3.5.4 acting as a PDC I
am getting an error on the windows 7 box that says
DNS_ERROR_NO_DNS_SERVERS (the full error log is included at bottom of
mail). WinXP machines are able to join the domain fine, just not
windows 7 boxes. My (sanitized) config is located is included at the
bottom of the mail.
I have tried doing the registry patches to

digital signature equipment
Everyone,
I apologize if this is off topic for this list!!!!!
I have an application that I need to acquire, store and merge to a pdf file a digital
signature from a client. What favorite equipment do some of you use to do this.
I contacted the topaz systems support team, and they advised me their equipment produced a
proprietary file type, and required me to sign a non-disclosure agreement to

How to apitalize leading letters & else of personal names?
Dear R world,
Do you know about a function that would capitalize in the correct manner
first and family names?
I found in the cwhmisc only the CapLeading function, but it just does not do
the job, taking care only to capitalize the first letter of a word.
I am looking for a function that would recognize " |'|Mc|-" and capitalize
the first letter following these characters.

question: ragged array
Hello,
I have a big problem which I’m just not able to solve.
I created the following mean value from the following dataset structure:
Id |value
1 | 2
1 | 3
1 | 4
2 | 2
2 | 1
3 | 5
4 | 3
etc.|etc.
with the command:
mean_rating <- tapply(ratok$value, ratok$project_id , mean,simplify = FALSE)
this gives me a ragged array:

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHE L3
Sort of a followup...
We've been running OCFS in sync mode for a little over a month now,
and it has worked reasonably well. Performance is still a bit spotty, but
we're told that the next kernel update for RHEL3 should improve the
situation. We might eventually move to Polyserve's cluster filesystem for
its multipathing capability and potentially better performance, but at least

problem with logistic regression
Hi,
we try to do a logistic regression with the function glm.
But we notice that this function don't give the same results as the SAS proc
catmod (differents estimate given).
We try to change the contrast on R system with:

We also try with brlr and logistf functions.
Unfortunately, the estimate

RDA and trend surface regression
Dear all,
I'm performing RDA on plant presence/absence data, constrained by
geographical locations. I'd like to constrain the RDA by the "extended
matrix of geographical coordinates" -ie the matrix of geographical
coordinates completed by adding all terms of a cubic trend surface
regression- .
This is the command I use (package vegan):

hanging imap... and users getting other users' emails!
Hi All,
We recently upgraded from UW (boy, starting to sound like a broken
record, eh?)...
Two problems:
1. Every two or three days users are unable to access their email
via IMAP. It seems that it's because dovecot-auth has hung. Has anyone
seen anything like this?
2. (the really serious one)... one of our users, "angie" has twice

I would like to report 2 very minor typos:

Help with loop
Hi,
I have used R for some time, but managed to avoid writing loops. But this
time I am afraid there is no way around it.
I have a dataframe with time and salinity (see below). I would like to
extract the time intervals where salinity changes by less than 0.05. So
using the values below this would mean that a subset was made from
2003-07-19 to 2003-07-24, where the change in salinity exceeded
