Printer client communication?
I'm curious about something:
what kind of communication can the print server (running samba 2.0.6) have
with the print client? i mean, is there a way to do message passing back
and forth? confirmation dialog? or would that require writing an entirely
new printer client? (the "client" in this case is the standard Win9x
printer spooler).
i'm putting together a proposal for a

pam_radius fail open?
Okay, I guess I?ll be the first to take Colin Percival up in that the
following statement applies to me:
?If you find a security problem -- or even if you find something which
might possibly be a security problem but you're not certain if it is or
not -- then please let us know.?
I recently installed pam_radius according to the instructions located at

openssh, pam, challenge-response problem
Hello,
when configuring the OpenSSH to authenticate through pam_radius, I
encountered the following problem:
The radius server is configured to accept username and generic
password, it then generates some textual string as a challenge-request
and waits again for username and this time for challenge-response.
Pam_radius use pam->conv function, retrieved with
pam_get_item(PAM_COM), with

SSHD and PAM
Hi I am trying to write pam_radius module which talks to RADIUS server for
aaa.
I see sshd checks /etc/passwd for user list. Since RADIUS server has user
list, can sshd ignore this check for RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication, Please
suggest if there are any flags to control it.
I am using the following versions.
OpenSSH_6.6p1, OpenSSL 1.0.2n 7 Dec 2017
I see sssd (NAS) being used for such use

No. It never was.
The SSSD is using NSS (Name Service Switch) [1] way of getting

Couple quick questions (maybe ;)
I have a couple questions:
1) how can i allow users who are previously authenticated against
an NT server to print to a shared printer without being prompt for
a password? If i remove the "guest ok" or "public" (set them to
"no"), then the users get prompted for a password. They have
not authenticated against the samba server, just the NT domain
controller. is

pam and radius config problem
Hi,
I am trying to configure ssh/pam to use freeradius as one of the authentication
sources on a C6 box.
I have freeradius running on a separate box with 2 factor authentication.
Using the radtest utility, I can successfully authenticate. My problem is that
I do not understand how to configure pam to use radius as an auth source and
be sure I am not opening a security hole in my systems.

My impression is that while this might be theoretically possible, nobody
does this. Especially it's not clear to me how you would push group
membership to the system. And AFAICS in case of TACACS+ there's also
only a single "role" available (translate this to

How do I change plot colors in bwplot
Hello,
I'm using bwplot to make a few plots. The plots are exactly what I
need, but are coming out with a grey background and turquoise boxes and
whiskers. I cannot figure out how to just get black and white to be
the default. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Chroot patch (v3.4p1)
The following is a patch I've been working on to support a "ChrootUser"
option in the sshd_config file.
I was looking for a way to offer sftp access and at the same time restict
interactive shell access. This patch is a necessary first step (IMO).
It applies clean with 'patch -l'.
Also attached is a shell script that helps to build a chrooted home dir on

propagate atimes with rsync-2.6.6 (fwd)
Dear Martin Pool.
We regularly use rsync for making backups of our file systems but we have
noticed that the atimes are not transferred with the files and are also
always updated on the sender's side. Therefore, we have created a modified
version of rsync based on rsync-2.6.6 protocol version 29 which transfers
the access times with the transferred files and also allows to preserve
the access

bwplot stats question
Hi List,
Just wondering where the documentation exists for the statistics which
makeup the bwplot.
I'm guessing that if R is like similar products that the graph is
constructed as
The median is the filled circle. The box surrounding the filled circle
depicts the 25th and 75th quartile. The range of values is given by the
dotted lines (?whiskers?) outside of each box, and possible

Repeated measures regression
Hi List,
Just wondering if there is such a thing as repeated measures
regression, and if so, can R do it?
I have repeated measurements of 10 individuals over a 45 day period,
and I would like to regress their daily activity time against a daily
environmental temperature. If I do so using averages of activity time I
find a significant negative correlation, but I worry that because I
have

Back end with special loop instructions
Hello.
I'm writing a back end for my research SIMD processor that has an assembly language
that is blocked structured, with one-level loops. An example program with my assembly
language:
REPEAT_X_TIMES(Param2)
R0 = LS[offset_A];
END_REPEAT;
The LLVM code somewhat equivalent to the above ASM program is:

Patches to report rsaref build and to call pam_setcred
I've attached two patches. The first just changes the output of "ssh -V"
to print that it was built against rsaref if libRSAglue (which is built
as part of openssl only when it is built against rsaref) is present at
build-time. The second adds appropriate calls to pam_setcred() in sshd.
Without them, our systems can't access AFS because the PAM modules only
get tokens at a

read.*: How to read from a URL?
The question is how to use a URL in place of a file= argument for
read.*.functions that do
not support this internally.
e.g., utils::read.table() and her family all support a file= argument
that can take a URL
equally well as a local file. So, if I have a file on the web, I can
equally well do
