Confusion over how to configure WINS
We have a network of about 24 remote site all connecting to our home
office across a mixture of private frame relay and VPN across the internet.
In order to simplify our life, and at the same time, reduce the amount of
non critical and chatty traffic transversing the WAN links during business
hours, we are putting servers at each remote to do DHCP, DNS, WINS, and file
and print sharing. From the

tinc for Satellite connections (benchmarking)
Hello.
I'm living in the country side where the communications are very very
poor. My only choice is Satellite connection throw the French company
Eurona which uses the network deployed by Skylogicnet.
In general the latency is very bad (~800ms) and the network is very
unstable. I have been investigating in the ISP routers which are in my
path and there are many hops which are done in a

Problems with Samba 2.0.6 and file modification times
Hello,
I'm using Samba 2.0.6 on a newly installed SMP machine
with SuSE Linux 6.2. Apparantly this Samba version does
not allow any network clients to change the file modification
times on remote files, as this is done by several directory
synchronization tools (I personally use "filesync" to synchronize
between my notebook and the server).
On another Linux machine (Samba 2.0.5a on

Fw: Time Synchronisation
Thank you very much, it was the setting on the RS6000. Whoever originally setup
our box didn't specify the BST time offset correctly. The system was reading
TZ=GMT0BST0,M3.5.0,M10.5.0
Thanks to everyone that contributed to solving a simple and obvious error !!!!
:)

WINS serving
Hi all,
I use Samba (nmbd) for WINS serving round here.
Any one know how to set up two WINS servers (on different machines for
resilience) using Samba?
Also, whislt I'm on the subject. Suppose I have a machine with multiple
(physical) interfaces, each with a unique IP address. When it ('s nmbd)
registers with teh WINS server does it register all its addresses?
Moreover, when the

s-plus to R
Hi, I have a piece of code originally written for s-plus - I am trying to
run it in R now. The code was obtained from someone who is now not
available to give any pointers and I am a beginner in R. Here is where it
is getting stuck:

questions on data management
Dear friends,
suppose i have two datasets: A and B
A:
id<-1:6
x<-c(1,2,3,4,5,6)
y<-c(2,4,6,8,3,2)
xy<-data.frame(id,x,y)
B
m<-c(1,1,3,3,5,5)
n<-c(2,2,6,6,3,3)
mn<-data.frame(m,n)
Now, i want to perfomr two tasks:
1. get a subset of B,no duplicate values,:
C:
m n
1 2
3 6
5 3
2.Extract the values in A on the conditions that x=m and y=n
the results should be:
id x y
1 1 2

motif search
Hi,
I am very new to R and wanted to know if there is a package that, given
very long nucleotide sequences, searches and identifies short (7-10nt)
motifs.. I would like to look for enrichment of certain motifs in
genomic sequences.
I tried using MEME (not an R package, I know), but the online version
only allows sequences up to MAX 60000 nucleotides, and that's too short
for my needs..

Have you enabled DTMF logging and seen the DTMF codes being recognised by
Asterisk? I had a bunch of soft phones that I had to change to using ?sip
info? for the DTMF signalling as the RFC signalling was not always being
recognised. This would cause transfers to appear as if the user had not
dialled any digits.

I'm not getting any ringing when I use option r with Dial:
Dial("DAHDI/1-1", "motif/8447/+1<called-num>@voice.google.com,,rTt") in

Otherwise all works. The call goes through, good audio.

Artwork localization
Hello everyone,
What do you think about having localized the following CentOS
components:
- Rolling notes in CentOS installer.
These images are shown during the installation process, once the
configuration is done and you are waiting for packages to be installed.
Rolling notes are a great place to promote CentOS. If they are not
localized, they are shown in English language by default.

How to fill in a region with different patterns?
Hi to all,
Here is a question which I cannot solve. Appreciate so much for any suggestions!
I have a squared region which is irregularly divided into many rectangular patches.
Each patch is associated with a value, and two patches possibly share a common value.
I hope to fill in each patch a pattern according to its value. For
instance, if a patch has value 1, then I fill in that patch

Outoing Calls Motif Google Voice Calls Ring After Pick-up
Outoing calls I make using Motif Google Voice Calls continue ringing
even after the other end picks up.
I have to restart Asterisk to resolve the issue.
I don't see any errors.
It's not recognizing that the other party picked up the phone and
restarting Asterisk fixes it only for a day.

Is there a setting that can be changed to have the merb mailing list set the
from address as the users from as opposed to merb-devel at rubyforge.org?
Thanks!
