need help with SafeDelete
Hello Samba Gurus
I found a program that I think may be usefull if I can get it to work with
Samba. I am using RedHat 6.2 and I found a program included with the
PowerTools called safedelete-1.3. I read the man page for safedelete and
it mentions creating a system alias "alias rm='/usr/bin/safedelete'" so
when you use rm to delete a file it will get backed up to a

cat /etc/passwd > mksmbpasswd
Hi all,
Quick question, is it possible to take an existing /etc/passwd file and
run it through mksmbpasswd.sh (or some other script) to update a smbpasswd
file? I am asking this because everytime we change a password or add or
delete usernames on a machine, it would seem we have to do the same thing
to change th samba password file, and I'm hopeing there is an easier
way.....
thanks,

Name Resolve Order?
I am a little confused. In the smb.conf man page under the "name resolve
order" section, it states that setting "name resolve order = wins" will be
ignored if the "wins server" parameter is not set. Elsewhere in the man
page it states that if you set "wins support = yes" then you cannot set the
wins server parameter. Does this mean that a machine that is

dovecot-lda can't create /var/mail dotlocks on debian
Hrm. if you turn up the debug on lda, do you get any more of a clue?
Those permissions look fine to me.

Well, first, here are the logs I generated:

dovecot-lda can't create /var/mail dotlocks on debian
I've been using dovecot+postfix happily for many years, and I'm now
configuring it for a new machine. However, I'm running into an old problem
again, and thinking that there must be a better solution.
The problem is that dovecot-lda is unable to create dotlock files in the
/var/mail directory.
Dovecot version: 1:2.2.13-12~deb8u1 (I'm guessing this is upstream version
2.2.13)

I'm using exim with LMTP. LMTP is NOT a bad thing, and might make your
life easier. It does allow you

Samba and LDAP, problem with variables %u and %g
Hi samba list,
I'm using samba 3(.0.13) with OpenLDAP and I have a strange problem:
the variables %U and %G don't seem to be replaced by their values.
I get nothing in my logs, so I don't know where is the problem...
In fact, in my smb.conf, I have something like:
logon home =
logon path = \\server\profiles\prof.%G
logon drive = h:
The profiles are loaded if I use logon

[LLVMdev] Suggested change to docs re: double/float constant syntax.
It appears to me based on my experiments with llvm-as that literal
floating-point constants may be specified in the 64-bit IEEE
hexadecimal format, but not in the 32-bit format. For instance, this
file:

wbinfo -u and -g on SAMBA 3 on RH9 to AD2k3 server
I have got it working such that wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g both report
the users and groups on the AD server - however, what they dont show
is the domain (as per 9.3.3 in Samba3 by example) can anyone offer any
suggestions ?
Also the getent passwd and getent group are not showing the domain
details only local machine details.
many thanks for any help

[PATCH] Call febootstrap-supermin-helper using the new -u and -g options
Use febootstrap-supermin-helper's new -u and -g command line options to setuid,
rather than doing it in libguestfs.
This resolves an issue with the generation of the cached appliance checksum. The
checksum was being generated by a call to febootstrap-supermin-helper through
popen(). Unfortunately, a bash misfeature meant that euid would be reset to uid,
and the checksum was generated for uid,

"Inband DTMF is not supported on codec G.711 u-law. Use RFC2833"
Using FireFly, all other codecs but G711 Ulaw is selected. But whenever I
place a call, I get:
Jan 24 16:07:06 WARNING[30654495]: dsp.c:1468 ast_dsp_process: Inband DTMF
is not supported on codec G.711 u-law. Use RFC2833
Umm, wtf? I thought Inband was ONLY supported on G.711 u-law.

I cant seem to get mugen .exe's to work. I recently got them to work after i upgraded , but they then soon stopped working again. The error message says:
Error message: Can't open data/mugen.cfg. Make sure you have extracted with directories
Error reading data/mugen.cfg
Any fellow M.U.G.E.N gamers who know how to solve the problem please reply, thanks.
