Network Busy Error
I had a similar problem at one stage, which it appeared was the result of my
Linux system trying to resolve the clients name/ip address. I found this out
by switching off DNS search (on my RedHat Linux systems it was in
/etc/resolv.conf).
Anyway, I also use 192.168.x.x address on my internal network, so I made
sure my local DNS server was setup as the Primary DNS for the

Intermitent loss of contact with Win95 share.
Hello :
One Win95 client, connected over a SLIP connection to an SCO Openserver 5.0
has been working fine until System Administrator has updated OS Version to
Unixware 7.1.0.
On this server (Unixware 7.1.0) , I've installed Samba 2.0.2 to access all
Win9x shares.
All shares on the LAN (connected via TP 10Mb cards) work fine, but when I

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I am having when compiling samba. When

I've installed Samba ("latest") on SCO's openserver 5 with a WIN'95 hanging
off of it as a client.
I can run every test in DIAGNOSI.txt except for number 2. That is, the WIN'95
box can not ping the SCO box within a reasonable amount of time.
(SCO can ping the WIN'95 box fine). For the longest time I thought the WIN'95
box couldn't ping the SCO box but I

SCO OpenServer
I think what I need is a prebuilt package.
I currently use Samba 2.2.12 running on SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 but I am in the
process of upgrading to 5.0.7.
Can't move to SCO version 6 because our application isn't guaranteed to work
on it.

Dave

Been there, done that. Samba 2.2 was built into the base release,

Hi,
As far as I know there are no problems with running Samba on a SCO system,
beside the normal Samba configuration problems.

SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4 (fwd)
You can download Ncurses for SCO OpenServer via
ftp://ftp2.caldera.com/pub/skunkware/osr5/vols/ncurses-4.2-VOLS.tar
This is a tar archive of media images suitable for installation with
the SCO Software Manager (/etc/custom).

SCO Openserver Patch
I downloaded the Openssh-2.3.0p1 file and ran configure only to have it
fail reporting the lack of libz. I found that configure was failing
beacuse the test program did not include the libtinfo and libm which are
needed to resolve references in libprot. I made changes to the configure
script to add those libraries for SCO Openserver and then tried to compile
the programs only to run into another
