Strange recursive delete problem.
Hi, I'm working for a company that has many users using samba and Red Hat Linux 6.1. We've found a problem that we can reproduce using the latest samba release (2.0.6). It is fairly hard to describe accurately but I will do my best. All of the users involved are in the group 'ihgtech'. The problem involves recursive deletion of directories owned by another user and the group

Dovecot on Linux 2.6.0-test1-ac1
Hi all For various reasons I was looking into 2.6, so I installed a copy on my desktop. Everything works fine, except for dovecot - errors such as this appeared in the syslog: Jul 15 14:41:09 typhaon dovecot: Dovecot starting up Jul 15 14:41:12 typhaon imap-login: setuid(113) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable Jul 15 14:41:12 typhaon dovecot: Login process died too early - shutting down I

Samba Bug?
Hi, I've been trying to get in touch with someone to discuss a problem with Samba that I've been experiencing. I can reproduce the bug on the systems for which I am responsible, and am interested to know whether it is a local problem or a genuine bug. (I have searched the archives, updated to the latest Samba release and read the docs :) I posted to this list and have had no replies -

Patches
As the freeze for Debian sarge slowly approaches I want to make sure the Dovecot packages are in as good condition as possible. I see there have been a number of patches since 0.99.10. I have added the following patches: * segfault when user home directory is empty * Proper PAM service name * Make suid work on 2.6 kernels Any other patches thatI ought to add. Or better yet, will there be a

Hooks on folder operations
Hi all, I'm interested in implementing an anti-spam system using bayesian filtering. I had the idea of modifying and IMAP server to assist in training the spam filter. I was thinking of running a program whenever a message in moved to the folder "Spam" or to a "Safe" folder. This could be easily added to the server as a generic feature, with hook programs for: * new

Hi, I am still getting strange creation and mailbox lookups from 0.99.11-test7. dovecot creates in ~/Maildir/ .INBOX/ .imap.index .imap.index.cache .imap.index.log .customflags dovecot-uidlist .INBOX seems to be a reference to ~/Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} yet I

Reposted: WinXP Pro domain join OK -- add domain users to local groups NOT
I'm sorry to repost this one but it seemed to get no attention the first time it was posted ... here it goes, again: Good day everyone and sorry to add to the traffic with one more (possibly stupid) question. I have the following problem which I could reproduce with both Samba 2.2.7 and 2.2.8 and with about 5 Microsoft clients. I've installed WindowxXP Pro (w/SP1), I modified

REPOSTED: Polycom 500 "Group Call Pickup Feature" and *
If you activate (via sip.cfg) the feature Group Call Pickup, its no surprise that asterisk doesn't know what to do with this feature request. But it is being sent as a SIP SUBSCRIBE request, and I'm wondering if, as asterisk stands, there is a way to take advantage of this feature to emulate the "*8#" normal behavior. If anyone has any input, there is also a call parking

bit by 3.0.8 username map affect on homes share
Samba is a domain member server authenticating to a MS-Windows domain controller. With 3.0.7 and all previous version for the past few years I could map a Windows to Unix userid in the username map file like so.. fred = fredw His home directory was then accessible as \\servername\fredw so \\servername\%username% from a Windows NTx client. I make EXTENSIVE use of that functionality. I missed

Win95 & Win98 - NOT WORKING - NT,2000, XP are ok (reposted)
Sorry to have to repost this (didn't get any response on the first post), we really need some of the fixes of the new Samba but cannot go ahead without the support for the older machines. Need to prove that Samba is the great product that I believe it is. Hi folks - I am having printing problems with our older machines. Printing is working fine for our Windows NT, 2000 and XP clients.

Reposted from Superuser - Installing Ruby on Rails on Ubuntu 10.04: A Living Nightmare
I''m reposting this here from my original post on Superuser[1], to hopefully get more relevant feedback from more experienced RoR users. I need to get a RoR environment up and running, because I have a client that needs some RoR work done on her website. Although I''m new to RoR, I''m a quick learner and was expecting installing and setting up the environment was easy, so

solution: package install probs. win-xp. file move
Hi, This is just an FYI documenting a conflict between R and Google-Desktop. The solution was to click on the Google-Desktop icon in the systray and click on "Pause Indexing". I also temporarily suspended anti-virus scanning before successfully install.packages("VR") many times without getting an error message. I was getting an intermittant failure when I tried to install a
