Dovecot on Linux 2.6.0-test1-ac1
Hi all
For various reasons I was looking into 2.6, so I installed a copy on my
desktop. Everything works fine, except for dovecot - errors such as this
appeared in the syslog:
Jul 15 14:41:09 typhaon dovecot: Dovecot starting up
Jul 15 14:41:12 typhaon imap-login: setuid(113) failed: Resource

Name mangling bug: was samba bug?
Hi James,
this sounds familiar - I believe I looked at a wire trace,
and windows is dropping the trailing dots BEFORE it sends the
request over the wire. so samba never sees the name foo..., thus
does not create it.

Recursive delete problem (Reposted:)
Hi,
(I'm reposting this because I was asked to by a subscriber :)
I believe I've found a problem that we can reproduce using the latest
samba release (2.0.6). It is fairly hard to describe accurately but I will
do my best. The bug is present if deleting from a smbmounted point
under Linux or from Windows 98 through "Network Neighborhood."

Strange recursive delete problem.
Hi,
I'm working for a company that has many users using samba and Red Hat
Linux 6.1. We've found a problem that we can reproduce using the latest
samba release (2.0.6). It is fairly hard to describe accurately but I will
do my best.
All of the users involved are in the group 'ihgtech'. The problem
involves recursive deletion of directories owned by another user

Hooks on folder operations
Hi all,
I'm interested in implementing an anti-spam system using bayesian
filtering. I had the idea of modifying and IMAP server to assist in
training the spam filter.
I was thinking of running a program whenever a message in moved to the
folder "Spam" or to a "Safe" folder. This could be easily added to the
server as a generic feature, with hook programs for:

Patches
As the freeze for Debian sarge slowly approaches I want to make sure
the Dovecot packages are in as good condition as possible. I see there
have been a number of patches since 0.99.10. I have added the following
patches:
* segfault when user home directory is empty
* Proper PAM service name
* Make suid work on 2.6 kernels
Any other patches thatI ought to add. Or better yet, will there be a

setfacl(1) - Can FreeBSD's ACLs contain groups from NT/AD domains ?
Hi all,
I have "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25" authenticating successfully against
active directory via samba's winbindd(8). I need to manage samba shares via
FreeBSD ACLs and CIFS ACLs. From my reading of setfacl(1) I should be able to
set group permissions using the syntax of DOMAIN\group-name. For example:
#setfacl -d -m g:"MYDOMAIN\mygroupname":rwx test

still getting weird .{inbox} folder creations with latest -test7
Hi,
I am still getting strange creation and mailbox lookups from
0.99.11-test7.
dovecot creates in ~/Maildir/
.INBOX/
.imap.index
.imap.index.cache
.imap.index.log
.customflags
dovecot-uidlist
.INBOX seems to be a reference to ~/Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} yet I

VT built in?
Hi Xen team,
one short question before I grab the new machine of a colleague: did you
build Xen3 for Sid with VMX (virtualization with the newer
Vander...Pacifica)? Or will I have to build it myself?
Sorry for the direct mail to this list, but I'm not subscribed to
Debian-Users. Please CC me, as I'm also not subsribed here. Thx.
kind regards,
Wolfgang

Notification of file modification in subdirectories not working
Hi Volker
Thanks for reply.
managed to capture Samba logs 4.2.7 in debug 10
Subsribed to events on path /watchfolder recursively.
First notification is renaming a folder in a subfolder, path
/watchfolder/test/renamed - that works OK.
Second notification is on path /watchfolder/test/subfile.txt and editing
that in Notepad on another Windows 7 machine via UNC path
That does not show

GTA3 problems
I'm using the current cvs version of wine and have been using Grand Theft
Auto 3 for a month or so with only a few issues. After updating and
recompiling wine last night I encountered a pretty major problem, cut
scenes refuse to end. They play through alright, but when it comes to the
end of the scene the game doesn't resume.
Out of curiosity I backed up my ~/.wine directory and used

Problems running some games that used to work before
I used to play GTA3 with only a few minor niggles a while back and thought
I'd give it a try with the most recent version of wine. I decided to do a
full test, from installing to actually playing the game. The installation
went perfectly but when ever I start wine now I get this error:
