I hace just installed samba. It works fine using application on my debian, but from Win98 can not see my samba. I can not achieve to see my samba as part of the NT domain. URGENT: Samba Won't Substitute %u In "Logon *" When LDAP Is Used
Version: 3.0.14a (debian stable: 3sarge1) I'm just about finished converting our company's network from NIS to LDAP. Part of that involved updating Samba to use that same directory so all the information is maintained in one place. Most everything is good, except that my roaming profiles won't work. My smb.conf file is attached. Upping the log level eventually showed messages

Windows NT "network path was not found."
Hello, I've been trying to get my Windows NT computer to access directories and printing from a Debian 3.0 host running Samba 2.2.3. The NT computer recognises my host computer named minikerr, however I always receive the error message "the network path was not found." I have authentication enabled in my smb.conf file and have created smbpasswd for each user. If anyone would be

Sharing printers via NT
Currently, I am attempting to share out my printers using Samba 1.9.18p10 on hp735 (hpux version 10). I am able to access the printers from Windows 95 and download the drivers to those machines, but I am unable to do so with Windows NT 4.0. The documentation stated that it was only compatible with Windows 95 at that time. Has there been any progress made for compatibility with NT 4.0? Also,

2 Servers different gid?
Hi All, I have 2 servers both running a compiled version of samba and winbind. They use my Windows Active Directory for user authentication via kerberoes. All that works fine and I can see and authenticate as any user. Every user on both machines have the same uid, the problem is the groups from the windows domain have different gid?s on each of the servers. I am using nfs to export the

Permissions assignment problem
Hey there, I am, for the first time, playing around with Samba seriously (mainly thinking about replacing NFS with it). I'm using a Linux 2.6.x client with the cifs.ko kernel module/filesystem type. I've found that I can't change the permissions on files to arbitrary values; they must not be greater than the bits specified in 'create mask' (and friends). The problem appears

I'm running Samba Version 3.0.10-Ubuntu on Linux Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.10-5-386, my full smb.conf is at the end of this message. We have AIMS v3.0.0.3, a database application which accesses data in .mdb files and we've stuck it on a samba share called AIMS. The problem is, when I

smbd reads entire directory when creating files?
Apologies if this is a FAQ. We are saddled with some directories full of production image files that number in the hundreds of thousands to the millions. (Yes, I know this is bad.) They reside on a couple of Win 2003 boxes that are flaky and unreliable. I was hoping to copy them over to a Linux box running samba but it is taking forever. A strace on the smbd process receiving the files

I can see it as a "computer" in my workgroup but once I click on its icon in Nautilus it is opened as a blank screen. I cannot see the folders I should have access. Doing the same in Windows XP I can access these folders. I use the same username and password on Ubuntu, XP,
