Samba Survey ...
Just went to look at that page, and all the dates are pre-'98 as far as "last updates" are concerned... Does anyone have a URL or anything that has testimonials of some sort? Trying to provide my boss with ammunication against another 'manager' who just sent around comments from a Novell mailing list about Samba... I'm curious about stuff like server/platform being run

No luck with "UNIX password sync"
I was very excited when I ran across the "UNIX password sync" directive in the smb.conf!!! THAT would be convenient and really add to the making the server seamless!! Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the unix and smbpasswords to sync from changing within win95. The posts I've seen in the mailing list concerning sync have so far gone unanswered :-( I'm just looking

Samba on RedHat 6.1
We're trying to get samba running on a RH 6.1 server installation, runnijng as a trial. So far we can only see the server on 2 NT 4/SP4 workstations and not on the Windows 95 clients, and then only if we do a Start/Find/Computers. I can map a drive to a share, and can reconnect to it after rebooting the NT workstation, but can't see the server in Network Neighborhood. TCP/IP is

Resampling Stats software
Hi, I am new to R (I have most of my experience in SAS and SPSS). I was wondering if anyone has used both Resampling Stats and R, and could comment on strengths/relationships. Also, I have no clue on how to do the various examples from the book "Resampling: The New Statistics" in R. Can anyone give me some possible starting points? Or websites/books? Thanks, Brandon

Looking for a set of definitive answers (long)
Question: We recently moved to a Samba-based file server, which holds mission- critical data on it (.dbf files used by our Accounting software, etc.) The goal was to create a file server that had excellent performance while providing Volume Management, but we felt that something like Veritas was overkill for our needs. Design Goals: - Redundant Hardware - Manual Failover (this was an

Does OpenSSH 3.x support KRB5 directly?
Just curious. There seems to be an awful lot in the source, but no actual configure option. Please advise. -- Austin Gonyou Systems Architect, CCNA Coremetrics, Inc. Error: Mongrel timed out this thread: too many open files
I just switched to Mongrel, and it''s been working much better than my previous lighttpd/fastcgi setup. So thanks for the awesomeness. My current problem: once or twice an hour, I get following error in production Mongrel timed out this thread: too many open files I never get it in testing or on our staging server. Any ideas what would cause that? It doesn''t *appear*

Field#to_text
We''re using Vpim to parse iCal and vCard files, and so far it''s been great. However, when we were parsing some iCal files we noticed that all the endlines in the description section were disappearing. I start peering through the source code and find (in the Field#to_text method that is being called): # The value as text. Text can have escaped newlines, commas, and escape #

OpenSSH 3.1p1 on Linux Slackware 8 with KERBEROS v5 support
Hello, I have a little question and this regarding the compilation of the latest release of OpenSSH on a Linux Slackware version 8 box. We are currently using Kerberos 5 for user authentification and I saw that in SSH there is only an option to configure called: --with-kerberos4, so my question is: what do I need to do to get Kerberos 5 support into OpenSSH ? I am using the MIT kerberos version

# sign and Ajax Updater
Hi all. I''m using Ajax Updater to filling and update forms on my site. I notice that when I use "#" sign in field form the Ajax Call is wrong. I try to use javascript escape function on forms fields value but it doesn''t change everything. The serwer shows like he only get a part of call, only to the sign "#", everything after that is like cut, just gone. Does

wine for the mac?
Still, I stand corrected. After reading the site FAQ, I found out that Plex86 _won't_ run on a mac. It is only good for booting i86 based OSes _on_ an i86 based *n?x Bochs is his best bet yet of running wine on a mac. Seeking in large files
I understand the various 2G file issues (after searching through all the archived digests), but I have a slightly different questions. We can create and see and copy greater than 2G files, but we cannot *seek* past 2G in a file. Here is the e-mail from the engineer who tried: We can read past 2G linearly (md5sum or NvMedia/Tests/Dvd), but it looks like any seek past 2G fails, even using

MWI indicator HINT on Snom thru IAX?
I have many remote locations that dial into a central server to retrieve voicemail via IAX. Outbound calls are handled as SIP calls from a Snom to a local (to them) Asterisk server that dials the main server thru IAX. I have trained them to check their voicemail via the emailed WAV file, however some of them are, how shall I put it, idiots*, and insist that they *have* to have the MWI indicator
