InnocuLAN incompatible with Samba?
Samba 2.0.5b on Linux 2.0.36. Innoculan virus scanner up-to-date on WinNT4SP3HU and WinNT4SP5HU. On access virus scan has been enabled on all files. (OK, I guess it shouldn't, but it works more- than-less with NT servers). There are zillions of problems (eg. oplock breaks (oplock is now disabled); the client and server having different ideas of what files are open; multiple connections from

Spec'ing a block
Hi folks How would you spec something like this: as_user username do FileUtils.chmod_R 0755, "#{directory}/*" end Where as_user fires off a new process (and set uid to username). It seems that this won''t catch FileUtils.chmod_R: FileUtils.should_receive(:chmod_R).with(0755, "#{@domain.directory}/*") I guess that is because it is passed in the block

Virus checker gets error "Network Name was deleted" ?
hi, Has anyone encountered problems running virus checkers on NT4+sp3 clients against Samba served drives ? We recently upgraded a samba server to 1.9.18p10 and now have an intermittent problem where during the scan of Samba drive the virus check flakes out with the error; "Network Name was deleted" I'm told that the server still appears to be browsable after this error, and the

[Very Strange] Windows Networking suddendly stopped working
Hi list, I hope that maybe one of you can shed some light on this, as this is a very strange case and I don't even have the slightest clue from what this symptom may all come from. Maybe not Samba, maybe Hardware, maybe buggy windows ..... Problem: We have running a Samba 3.0.7 (from backports.org) Debian 3.0 STABLE Server here for over a year now. On Tuesday this week we got the first

cross-subnet browsing problems
I'm trying to set up cross-subnet browsing using Samba on a Linux box and a Sparc UltraEnterprise with Win95 and NT Workstation clients. I'm using the Sparc as the domain master and also as the WINS server on the 108 subnet. The Linux box is the local master on the 46 subnet. Both are running Samba 1.9.17alpha4. I can see the conversation between the two samba servers and the browse

Word document corruption when connection lost
We've been having some problems where connections are being lost to our 2.0.4b Samba machine, the specifics of which are in a different post. To add to the problems we find there is a problem with particularly Word and also some other programs, with the file in memory getting corrupted when the connection is lost. If a user loads a Word document from there Samba share and then the

Copy files and working (loading & saving files) with MS Word and other applications on the fileshare works well. With Excel 97 SP2 running on NT4.0 SP5 we have the following problem : Open the file first time -> o.k. Save the file first time -> o.k. Open the same file again -> o.k. Save the

"smbmount" and Linux kernel-2.0.37
Hello, I tried to compile Samba-2.0.5b with smbmount after setting the configure-option "--with-smbmount". On systems (SuSE 5.0 and SuSE 5.3) running Linux kernel 2.0.35 and 2.0.37 I didn't have success: Compiling client/smbmount.c In file included from /usr/include/linux/smb_fs.h:11, from client/smbmount.c:28: /usr/include/linux/smb.h:47: warning: `PVAL'

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the samba client does not get an error message, but the job gets lost. :( I would like the print jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an active print job or when the printer is off-line. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd. The

setting passwords from Windows
I'd like to change Samba passwords from win95 and NT4 clients. I use security=user. I don't give shell access to every user, so they can't use smbpasswd. I've tested from a win95 client with the precompiled samba-2.0.4b.i386.rpm: net pass \\greg greg test1 test2 I'd used smbpasswd to change greg's password to test1 on host greg prior to this. Here's the smbpasswd

samba digest 2114
Was there a digest #2114? I haven't got it. I've expected an answer but couldn't find it in the archive. So I ask it again, briefly. I'd like to change Samba passwords from win95 and NT4 clients. I use security=user. I don't give shell access to every user, so they can't use smbpasswd. I've tested from a win95 client with the precompiled
