Download daily weather data
I'm writing a program that will tell me whether I should wear a coat,
so I'd like to be able to download daily weather forecasts and daily

The NOAA has very promising tabular forecasts

no plots in for loop (was RE: (no subject))
1. Please use a meaningful subject, as the Posting Guide asked you to.
2. You need to wrap xyplot() (or any other lattice plotting functions) in
print(). I believe this is in the FAQ.

LDAP access problem
Hi,
My Samba-3.0.0 is configured as PDC. I've joined a W2k wks on this domain and everything works perfectly.
However, when I try to add ACL on a file or directory located on the server, the display of the 1700 users and 570 groups take a while (20-30 sec), the slapd process use about 90% of CPU.
In the slapd.conf

I recently installed Excel 2003 in Wine 1.0, it works well, but I can't save anything as Excel claims the disk is full. I even tried to run it as root, but that didn't work out too well. The messages are "The disk is full" followed by "Document not saved"
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and I have the following DLL overrides installed in Wine:

Good day Mr McCutchen,
I've posted to the rsync list but nobody replied and you seem knowledgeable.
Can you think of any reason why for about 220G of files (about 4.5M files)

finding a compiled version of samba
Samba Techs,
I started compiling 2.0.5a yesterday and someone came by and told me I could
get a version of samba that has already been compiled. The problem is, I don't
know where to find it. Is there any way someone could please send me a copy of
one of the most recent "compiled" versions of samba. If not, could you please
direct me to the location on the internet where I can

--delete not working - due to 200+G of files?
All of the rsync pages say that "rsync -a --delete src dest" will do a
full mirror but it just isn't so for us.
I've only found one Google item similar:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/rsync-doesnt-seem-to-delete-599985/
We have around 9200 directories in 250G in /home on a Sun 4500 with
Solaris 8 and rsync 2.6.5 - which we are trying to mirror on Sun

wxRuby 1.9.8, windows gem available
Hi
A binary wxRuby 1.9.8 gem for Ruby 1.8 on Windows is now available from
http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=35
or by doing "gem install wxruby"
This should be significantly better than 1.9.7, so upgrading is recommended.
Sorry for the delay; it took a while to find the most suitable compiler
version. This was built with MSVC 7.1 (Visual Studio 2003).

For more than 10 years until now im using Shoutcast 1.9.5/1.9.8 win32 on my

to make changes that will be dramatic for the listeners.

Wx::Bitmap causes segfaults
Instantiating a Wx::Bitmap with width and height causes a segmentation
fault. This is the minimal example I could find where the behaviour is
exhibited:
require ''rubygems''
require ''wx''
Wx::Bitmap.new(1, 1)
Results in:
