Samba and DOS
Greetings, Is there any way to get Samba to interact with MS-DOS? I am attempting to turn a Linux box into a VPN router for DOS clients. What I need to know is, can I get a CIFS protocol stack for MS-DOS, is a TCP/IP stack sufficient, are there any other solutions anyone knows about? Thank You. dd iso to flash drive
Booting from the USB requires that there is a syslinux directory to boot off of. In EL6, there is only isolinux, which is what booting from a DVD uses. You should be able to copy isolinux to syslinux, rename the files from s/iso/sys/ and then update syslinux.cfg to point to the USB drive to boot from. Here's an example from my setup: ==== LABEL next MENU LABEL ^A) Boot the next device

What's the deal with the archive bit?
I have some deep concerns with what is happening under the hood here with the archive bit. I'm hoping someone will step up to the plate and give the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth on this matter in clear and unambiguous language. Specifically: 1) Is there a known configuration where a Samba file server is fully integrated into an ADS domain (2003) where the setting of

Transferring user profiles to new domain
It's been a while, but as I remember "Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours" by Gerald Carter and Richard Sharpe has an entire chapter which walks you through this process. RSAT Hang
Hi Gregory, On the questions. > Is there a good reason to avoid Samba internal DNS? No, imo not, but i only use bind9_dlz because i need bind in my lan for other setups also. I just used my RSAT on my win7 64b, but at my point it works fine. I do have questions to get a better impression of the setup. Whats the os your using with RSAT and did u use DOM\Administrator or an other account?

I use this as followed. ## map id's outside to NT domain to tdb files. idmap config *: backend = tdb idmap config *: range = 2000-2999 ##
