We are looking for another solution besides Samba, which will allow our application developers using Windows 95/98/NT to access share on our Sun Box running Solaris 2.6 operating systems. Our supervisor feels the Samba installation process is more complex than what we really need. Any suggestions? ntuser.dat
What are the implications of locking the ntuser.dat file on the user's server profile? That is, if I make the ntuser.dat file read-only, what affects will that have on the client?

TxFAX problem
Hi Ppl. Once, couple weeks ago when I have updated * from CVS-HEAD something happen and I could not send a fax anymore. I have tried that on Fedora Core 2 with libtiff-3.5.7-16.1 and libtiff-devel-3.5.7-16.1. Everything compiles smoothly, but when I try to send

How to do a "proc summary" in R?
Hi, I'm a SAS user trying to convert myself to R but I still have problems with some pretty simple commands. First I wanted to add up a number of red-tailed hawks seen per day (julian day) per year. So I tried: RTyrday <- tapply(RThr,list(year, julian),sum) And then I tried the following regression: mod1 <- glm(RTyrday~julian+year, family=gaussian (link=identity),data=RT) Wich

using filter while Reading files -
Dear R'sians.. I apologize if this topic has been beaten to death and hope that hawks don't pounce on me! Could you please suggest an efficient way to filter rows from 500+ text files (some with 30000+ rows with multiple section table headers) residing in several folders? I guess probably "scan" is the fastest way to scan a file, but, I noticed it sometimes takes a long time

Rejecting secure audio stream without encryption details - when using ws clients and Kamailio integration
Greetings, I've noticed a problem that might originate from my Asterisk configuration, could use a hand in sorting it out. Problem is a 488 response from Asterisk whenever it gets RTP/SAVPF profile in the SDP. My current setup has Asterisk Kamailio realtime integration, and Kamailio uses dispatcher to route calls for Asterisk to handle. Now I have only one Asterisk, on the same machine as

windows 7 roaming profiles
Hi Samba4 DC and win 7 clients. The user profiles are stored in a profiles share: [profiles] path = /home/CACTUS/profiles read only = No This works OK and the user can logon to different boxes with the same profile. The profile folders such as Desktop, Downloads etc. however, also appear stored on the local disk under c:\users\username. Any file saved e.g. on the Desktop, is not

Number of workgroups allowed in Samba smb.conf file
We still have questions regarding installing Samba to allow Windows 95/98/NT clients to access a Sun Server running Solaris 2.6. One of the problems I anticipate is we have a large company with many workgroups. And we will need to allow members from different workgroups to access the Sun Server. Is it possible to add more than one workgroup in the smb.conf file? Example: workgroup = tom bill

White space being removed from "Programlisting" elements
Good Morning Mike, I''m finding that when I load a document, XXE is blindly removing all "superfluous" white space from "programlisting" elements. This of course is leading to a real mess (check out the FAQ on the web site :-( ). What can I do to avoid this? -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \

PCI/DSS compliance on CentOS
I have a client project to implement PCI/DSS compliance. The PCI/DSS auditor has stipulated that the web server, application middleware (tomcat), the db server have to be on different systems. In addition the auditor has also stipulated that there be a NTP server, a "patch" server, The Host OS on all of the above nodes will be CentOS 6.2. Below is a list of things that would be

aaf and stop words; query parser
I''ve been trying to implement acts_as_ferret in my latest project and ran into a snag. If I do a search for ''auditor state'' then the search works perfectly. If I include a stop word, as in ''auditor of state'', then I get no results. I''d prefer not to set stop words to nil and index everything. The solution, that I have yet to attempt, is to use

with streams_xattr enabled, ads are written correctly but not retrieved
Hello, I'm running Samba 3.6.6-1 on my x64 Arch Linux installation. I recently decided to have my samba share support NTFS's Alternate Data Streams by using streams_xattr or streams_depot. With streams_xattr I discovered that if I copy a file having an ADS from a win7 box, on the linux console, I can see the ADS as an xattr attached to the file. However when I copy the file back to my
